Mud Flaps

Recommended Posts

I have seen a few nice Imprezas going round Abeerdeenshire with rally style mud flaps fitted. Where can these be bought from? My old Scooby Turbo ended up with chip marks at the bottom of the front wings. Looks to be caused by stones/grit coming of the wheels. I  fancy a set to protect the paintwork.

Most people find them on fleabay, however its hit or miss as to the quality and you need to get a kit with decent brackets.

If you do fit em yourself be careful on the passangerside wheelarch or you will drill through the ecu wiring loom and be in a world of hurt.

Thanks for the info guys. I am bit unsure of the drilling bit though. I have just got the car and the thought of drilling into the body work[:(] does not fill me with confidence.

I've got Scoobyworld flaps on mine and only place you need to drill is on the front set (one hole each side) at the inside of the arch well away from nice shiny bodywork[:(] ,they came with stainless steel brackets and all the set screws and clips required for fitting,...they cost iirc  £63 including p+p (next day delivery) forgot to mention you can get them supplied with various decals.

I think they look not too bad!!

It's very easy, just do it slowly and carefully and plan to leave 2-3 hours to do it properly without rushing. Drilling is very easy assuming you measure up twice. Drillwise - again very easy but you dont want to use a huge drill as it needs to be able to get in behind the brake disks.

If you've got the cash (400 quid) you could get official STI flaps.  These are the dogs.  The go right round under the arches at the front and protect the entire inner area, unlike some narrow after market examples where front and back flaps are roughly the same width.  The alloy brackets are an easy fit since they are subaru parts.

I might post some pics of mine once I get my car back (probably later today)

Hey Shaun

Here is my baby with the "hit or miss"??? Flaps from Fleabay

They are ace to fit and the dogs bits really for a fraction of the scott lowe etc costs.

ClutDav??? Scott Lowe second to none? cough cough [:P]

Took me 20 mins to fit without taking the rims off [:D]

The boy is a top geezer to deal with and his goods are top class

As Seen Below[:D]

Cheers again guys for the info. Excellent photos also. I can see the way forward now. Will have to wait to get home from offshore and get some fitted. They really make a difference to the way the car looks. My Sti looks a bit plain without them. Cal is that shot from KH. I may be trying my motor round there again this year. Had my old turbo round a few times.
