pornodan Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 does anyone know if it is possible to chip a my95 wrx. some people have told me that anything earlier than a my96 cant be chipped , others have told me it can. bit confused at the mo .would like to know if anyone has chipped an early classic and if so best place to get it done. cheers danny.........
insane clown Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 hi mate, i got my96 uk classic with the 4 plug ecu, there is a space on the board for the chip, and this is the one if you fit the chip you cut the j1 restister. i have a chip fitted in mine (scoobyecu) they come with a generic map normaly about 15.5 psi and raised fuel cut ect.... this is my ecu pictured so yours should look like it, the chip is fitted bottom right (28 pin)
Wee Jock Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 Here is some info on the Z4 ECU: Boost Targets & Fuel-Cut Limits WRX/STi Saloon ECU's 2C, U8, W6, W9 - As above, 11.47psi held to redline. Fuel-cut 14.57psi WRX (1995/96) ECU Z4 - 12.71psi, dropping to 11.78psi @ 6600rpm. Fuel-cut 15.65psi. UK/Aus/Euro ECU's V7, 7D and 6D - 11.47psi, dropping to 9.47psi at 6600rpm. With Fuel-cut @ 14.87psi UK Prodive ECU - 13.33psi (peaks to 13.64 @ 5600rpm, drops to 12.71psi @ 6600rpm). Fuel-Cut 15.65psi. STi RA (1996) ECU 7K - 13.17psi (peaks to 13.64psi @ 5800rpm). Fuel-Cut 15.96psi. WRX Wagon ECU V9 - 10.55psi dropping to 6.84psi (starts to drop @ 5000rpm). Fuel-Cut 13.79psi Z4 and UK Prodrive map are near identicle, with the Prodrive Map running slightly more boost. IMHO the Z4 ECU is the best stock WRX ECU you can get, as it has much tidier fuel and igntion maps. Comparing it to the earlier ECU's I'm suprised the earlier cars run at all..... A Z4 ECU will also run fine in a UK and give near UK PPP performance cheers Wee Jock

pornodan Posted April 11, 2006 Author Posted April 11, 2006 thks guys dont really know much about this sort of thing , what sort of bhp can i expect from a z4 ecu. car is standard apart from ninja back box , bailey d/v and green panel filter. am getting de-cat centre section soon.
insane clown Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 I think they were around the 276 bhp mark, i may be wrong. still a whole lot better than standard import ecu i think, and 10 times better than any uk one!![] and uk fuel freindly too i think
