Gumball Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 THIS HAS HAD TO BE PUT OFF DUE TO THE OPTIMAX ISSUE AT THE MOMENT. sorry
col666 Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 The aim as i said is to cover the ground at a navigational pace to look around. Navigational pace? aye right! If i stayed closer I would come for a run[]
Gumball Posted April 9, 2006 Author Posted April 9, 2006 Get yourself down here and take the scoob along the route. It is a steady pace, i promise. otherwise ill just miss junctions and have another "Gumball/swiggi/mayrun/wrong turn thing"
st3ph3n Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Mind next Sunday is easter Chris. Roads might be busy with families out for 30mph jaunts in chelsea tractors.
STi_Bandit Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 I love the A701 road down to dumfries such a good drivers road, if your heading down that way i could meet you at the Leadburn junction (I.e where the pub used to be before someone crashed there car into it) Martin
Gumball Posted April 9, 2006 Author Posted April 9, 2006 aye, thats a factor but as i said........and i know no one beleives me.........its a normal speed adventure. 70mph is max and dependant on the traffic. Where i am talking about going there shouldnt be anyone other than us knocking about u in?
Gumball Posted April 10, 2006 Author Posted April 10, 2006 I love the A701 road down to dumfries such a good drivers road, if your heading down that way i could meet you at the Leadburn junction (I.e where the pub used to be before someone crashed there car into it) Martin where abouts is that Martin??
Gumball Posted April 10, 2006 Author Posted April 10, 2006 The roads i have pencilled in are b roads Would the A701 not be a bit busy?
STi_Bandit Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 The A701 is just outside penicuik at the Leadburn crossroad, i take it sometimes to goto dumfries, real seinic and takes you all the way to dumfries, not normally a busy road though if you get stuck behind someone hard to pass, Was just when you mentioned broughten and dumfries was the road that sprung to mind Martin
bigdavie Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 i might be interested gumball just for the reccy of course if its a nice day ! where would the meet up point be mate ??
Gumball Posted April 10, 2006 Author Posted April 10, 2006 I would be keen to have the start point at Larkhall or strathclyde park THIS weekend. I know thats not the best for the rest of the country, its just this time its needs to be a lowland run 10am
STi_Bandit Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 I might be up for a wee run this weekend, as long as it like you say a relaxed pace as iam not what you call the most spirted of drivers when it comes to country road driving. so if you lose me dont be to worried. Martin
Gumball Posted April 10, 2006 Author Posted April 10, 2006 Martin, Good if you could come. I need to use this time to discover the roads rather than blast them. I doubt there will be any speed at all unless you go off ahead for a blast. All navigational on my part. Anyone else?
STi_Bandit Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 Na iam up for a gentle drive round the country side, give me somthing to do :-), i see if i can borrow my girlfriends tomtom to help navigation, a a big road map thingy and autoroute 2006 ooohhh i could load that on a lap top and just bring that :-) Martin
andy Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 no takers? I'd be up for this if you'd be willing to be a guinea pig for me. I've just dumped my Canon 10D and bought an EOS 1D MKII N. If you were prepared to help me develop my motorsport photography skills by letting me go ahead then take muchos photos of your motor as you went past several times throughout the route I'd be up for the experience. It's awesome on the Trials photos, but I'd love to do more with some real speed involved... [] PS - Hurt = awesome song.
bigdavie Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 right if yous are meetin @ strathy then me and the mrs are in wot time ?? and what bit o strathy ??
Gumball Posted April 11, 2006 Author Posted April 11, 2006 10am at strathy park on Sunday morning. In the carvery carpark ready to go with some fuel for the journey. As i mentioned, this could need 1-2 tanks. Andy- thats fine, never one to miss the camera[]
bigdavie Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 right we'll be there !! just dont post any pics of me on here cos im no very photogenic lmao !!!! see ye sunday !! btw ....the carvery ..is that the restaurant thats just inside the park off the main rd ??
Gumball Posted April 11, 2006 Author Posted April 11, 2006 I know its easter sunday and a lot of people will be rolling bioled eggs around or spending time with their families. I could only imagine that there are singleys like me who would rather roll themselves about the twisties of rural scotland for a couple of hours. Maybe this is a sign of the times though. I think the November run demonstrated the fact that just cos im going doesnt mean it has to be lightning quick[:|]
st3ph3n Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 If I'm not bloootered from the night before I will endevour to get my ass down to the park. That's only 5 minutes away for me really. One thing to note - M74 has roadworks on it just now at the Raith interchange. Specs cameras in effect on them too. It gets quite busy, but easter sunday should be quiet. JUST WATCH OUT FOR THE CAMS!
bigdavie Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 well after a major slide through a roundabout earlier @ only 50 mph i am only going to this if its dry !! cos i need some decent tyres on the back end lmfao !! well who could blame me ??
Grovit Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 Hi - Am going to come along on this but as I went on a run down to Galashiels, Hawick and then almost to Newcastle and back last Saturday, I've kind of blown my fun run money for this month - so if you're cool with this I'll come along for maybe an hour or two (the last SIDC run I went on was Squirrel's mad march run in 2005 so I'm overdue !), and then double back. You guy's cool with this...............? Let me know and I'll see you Sunday at 10:00 at Strathy Chris
