col666 Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 Been a scoob owner for about 6 years, a 4dr, 5dr and now a 2dr, all classics but never had a go in a newage until today. The WHITELINE demo car was at AWD today, a STI 7? bugeye JDM. Got handed the keys and told to go for a blast! Felt a lot heavier than the type r and the steering is also a bit vague initially but overall a very nice car with plenty power and an awesome suspension set-up. Whiteline defo know there stuff, goes to show that you dont need huge power to enjoy a car, the STI is standard engine wise but with all the right suspension bits you can really have fun knowing that it wont spit you off the road! Big thanks to the Whiteline guy, cant remember your name! Col.
STi_Bandit Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 I Remember in my handling mod thread, the spec was posted for the WHITELINE demo car [] Hi, The Whiteline demo road car runs on Control springs, front & rear adjustable heavy duty anti roll bars, anti liftkit, front spherical bearing adjustable droplinks, rear alloy droplinks and front strutbrace. Oh, and Michelin Pilot Sport 2 rubber. I find that it makes a great daily driver, comfortable (i'm an old git) loads of grip in wet, dry and anything in between as well as having a good balance for the odd trackday. Of course you can go a lot further, but you start changing the compromise that suspension is. Normally comfort is sacrificed as well as grip in the wet etc. in order to squeeze the last few tenths for the track days. What would you rather have: a car that is right for 99% of it's use and slightly lacking for 1%. Or a car that is right for 1% of the time and compromised for the other 99%? Suspension is a compromise which feels different for different people. Ask your local Whiteline dealer if you can drive the Whiteline demo car to give you some ideas. I'm sure something can be arranged. Cheers Job
col666 Posted April 8, 2006 Author Posted April 8, 2006 The guys couldnt find anything wrong with car, maybe its just me being paranoid about every little noise, rattle etc after what happened before. Or maybe its just the voices in my head! Col.
bigdavie Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 col are the newage roomier inside at all ?? as the only possible gripe i have with my classic is that the seat does not go back far enough for me !! im 6' 3" btw !
paddy247 Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Had a wee blast in this demo car this morning and having driving a few newage cars was very suprised by the way it handled, The standard power is made much more fun by the cars new ability on the corners.
scoobykev Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 col are the newage roomier inside at all ?? as the only possible gripe i have with my classic is that the seat does not go back far enough for me !! im 6' 3" btw ! Plenty room for me and i'm 6'4"
st3ph3n Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 I'm 6'4" and tons of fun and the new age suits me nicely. Did take a bit of time to get my ass grove into the bucket seats though.
bigdavie Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 i find my hands hitting my thighs when trying to turn the wheel quickly ?? no ???
STi_Bandit Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 In the STi8 i think the steering wheels are a small diameter as i certainly noticed a difference in the size of the streering wheel from the UK300 to the STi, the STi one is alot better [] Martin
