col666 Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 Got the car back on Wednesday, running her in nicely at a dizzy 62mph! Was crawling along in traffic earlier and noticed a sort of crunching noise with very slight knocking coming from rear wheel area. I hope this is just a wheelbearing thats knackered, but there isnt much noise when I am driving along at normal speeds. The way my lucks going with this heap the diffs probably goosed[] Ever regret buying a car? A peed off Col[]
RA Dunk Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 could be wrong but i think a bearing makes more of a whining noise well mine did when it went on my last car anyway
Gumball Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 FFS would the strut not make a crunching noise if it was completely goosed? I know mine has knocked before, prior to getting the back ones replaced.
G.T. Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 hope its nothing serious mate cars tend to get on yer tits at times , but when its going properly they cant be beaten
col666 Posted April 8, 2006 Author Posted April 8, 2006 It is a weird noise, had wheel bearings go on other cars before and know what they sound like. Might pop into my cars second home at AWD tomorrow.
colin_ross Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 Might seem like a silly question but you've checked that the wheel nuts are tight? A sort of soft clunking noise is the best way to describe the noise if they are starting to work loose.
Spaceman Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 A had a kind of crunchin noise cumin from the back of mine too turned out to be a stone caught between the brake disc and the plate behind maybe worth a look.
