Registration plates

Can anyone tell me the significance of the Manx reg plates please? Does the letter mean anything, like year?

I think it did years ago but not anymore.

The email link just sends an email - it's the PM link that's odd. I've never seen a board with no PM control panel before! I replied to your email, but the email went back to privatemessages @sidc. co. uk (spaces put in to stop harvesting).
