bigdavie Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 such as this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Heat-Wrap-for-Exhaus...6QQcmdZViewItem if so is there any apreciable difference in performance by reducing under bonnet temps ??
Gumball Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 davie, im not an kind of techincal person and sell IT. though..... i have my downpipe, uppipe, headers and centre section wrapped. the induction kit is out the negine bay in the wing and the hard pipes on my fmic will be wrapped shortly as well. heat is a nasty thing in the wrong place and you want to do everything you can to make sure the heat stays in the places it should be and not in the places it shouldnt. have a look at some of the cars about and see what, where and how much then get a feel for what you coulddo.
bigdavie Posted March 23, 2006 Author Posted March 23, 2006 cheers think i will get some then cos it can get mighty hot under my bonnet !! no harm in giving it a bash is there ?!!
ally-b Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 As well as keeping heat out of other areas , as Gumball said. Keeping heat in exhaust is a good thing as hot gasses are more 'fluid' at high temps and flow better/faster = power. Wrapping headers , uppipe and downpipe is recommended - but a pig of a job if they are still on the car , better to remove them to wrap them. HTH Al.
