You did it wrong then, it's always right.

Basically any number you chose will always go back to the same number ie, 99 = 81, 95 = 81, 90 = 81 so it can't be wrong.

Answer always divisible by 9. All multiples of 9 have the same symbol.

Multiples of 9 pop up everywhere. If you put miss a 0 off a number, the difference will be divisible by 9 (40 instead of 400, difference 360), and if you swap some figures round the same applies, 37 instead of 73 gives a difference of 36. Sure theres a rational explanation for it somewhere.
