prodrive tony Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 Hi guys, just a quicky on launching off the line. Ive owned the car 4 months and have killed one clutch already, so i fitted a AP Racing replacement with lightened flywheel. I expected this to be better but still pongs on a launch? Please no insults on my driving, lol. Whats the best technique to get of the line?? Mod's...Hks Filter, Decat and Front Mounted Intercooler. (Whats next, suggestions??)
granby Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 I've tried different ways to launch and the best i found for me was to rev the car to 5000rpm and drop the clutch []

granby Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 I'll give it a go!! I must say it's not the most sympathetic (to your drivetrain) way to launch but as long as you get some wheelspin and don't bog down you should be OK (fingers crossed - touch wood etc etc)
prodrive tony Posted February 27, 2006 Author Posted February 27, 2006 Eltham, know it well. Used to deliver milk bottles there. Lol. Yes need to look after that drivetrain now im getting my first house. Missus dropped first hints about selling car today. Shes gonna have to go. (not the car).
riceboy Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 As you have an uprated clutch and a standard gearbox, a little bit of mechanical sympathy is needed. Hold the revs at about 5000rpm and try to slip the clutch slightly whilst pulling away. The clutch will be ok and should help keep the gearbox happier for longer ( I learnt this only after my 4th 5 speed was fitted! Now running 6 speed box[][H]) As for what mod next, I would advise that as you have an exhaust, filter and fmic already fitted, get an uprated fuel pump, an uprated fuel pressure regulator and some sort of ecu remap ( either using your ecu or fitting an aftermarket one) Hope this is of help to you.
