robert_harding Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 just trying to wind em up Sophie..not taking the bait though[]
Little H Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Sorry for this reply but you shouldnt have 1 of them any way Think that's right Subaru don't recommend atmosheric ones IIRC[] It invalidates any warranty but then again so do decats so who cares. Tell them to PPPPPsssssssscccccccchhhhhhhhhh off....LOL I would say either your one of the springs has gone or the diaphram is knackered I wasn't talking about warranties Steve Subaru don't recommend venting DV's because they can cause problems see http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?...ight=dump+valve
blue boy Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Yet another link saying the same http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?...ight=dump+valve

robert_harding Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 a quote from one of the posts on SN. "Also, the recirculated air is used to help slow the turbo in a controlled way. With a VTA, the turbo can be suddenly stopped by the drop in pressure and can shatter" he is talking utter tish...the whole point of a dumpvalve being it re-circ or Vta is to stop the turbo from slowing down or stalling..ie let it keep spinning. do not believe anything you read on a forum...icluding this post..lol..get your answer from someone who has experienced it or has detailed knowledge on the subject. i have my VTA on for 3 years, and it s a daily drive....although i do have my standard reicirc on at the moment becoause mine got gummed up and i havent put it back on yet.
blue boy Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Subaru still don't recommend one if they do why don't they fit it?
*Andy* Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 VTA'S nnnnnnnnnnoooooooooooooooooooo, far to chav LOL
Little H Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Subaru still don't recommend one if they do why don't they fit it? There is no gain or loss in performance by either. People state it wrecks the MAF but the recirculation happens after the MAF sensor so it cant be proved either way. If you take a warrantied car for repair and have a VTA no one will touch it, and they cannot explain it. Those comments are from three main tuners.... Is still say Ppppppsssccchhhhh away its great just dont do it in the wind....LOL
rasher Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 what a bunch of old farts you are they sound very Chavvy IMHO, I'll get me coat[:$]
Little H Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 what a bunch of old farts you are they sound very Chavvy IMHO, I'll get me coat[:$] Well i do have the ESC connection....

andy_tregarthen Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Subaru still don't recommend one if they do why don't they fit it? Proberbly to do with a legislation of some description, drive by noise polution or something. Less noise is generated by a standard induction system. Not sure, will have a look I like the sound of my DV, like a small budgie is trapped under the bonnet []
Jenni Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Hi Rob - I'm thinking of getting a dump valve for my P1 - love the sound they make and I know I need to get the right one for my model - have you got any advice? I thought that once they were fitted, everything was ok? (Is that just wishful thinking?)
blue boy Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Jen you've got one already its a recirculating one so doesn't woosh there is a lot of debate about atmosperic ones and whether they are good for the car or not. Personally I prefer to err on the side of caution. Bob
