dipsy Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 How do you go about fitting a panel filter .I bought a green panel filter for 05 sti i have
RS Grant Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 I always thought you remove the top of the airbox.. take out the old element, replace with Green element, re-attach top of airbox and bingo bango. Jobs a good'un!! Cheers, Grant
alistair_learmonth Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 You need to undo the two steel clips on the left hand side of the engine bay where the air box is situated (sti) The green filter on mine needed the lugs removed on the length sides, Did this with a trimming knife. It would not let the lid shut otherwise, the instructions were in my box about maybe needing remove the lugs to make it fit. You must remove both sides for it to centralise itself. Then reclip the steel clips and bobs yer uncle a wee rasper of a conversion and sometimes gives more sook and sound.[]
dipsy Posted February 18, 2006 Author Posted February 18, 2006 I did that but can't get the lid shut there is rubber bits under the rubber lip so it thicker than the origanal filter .I did a panel filter on the classic i had and that was easy
alistair_learmonth Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 Its the wee black trimming lugs mate, they wee half circle things, I had to remove them on my sti box for the lid to fit. Cut them down and then from edge with sharp knife or stanley but not too deep to fook it all up.
dipsy Posted February 19, 2006 Author Posted February 19, 2006 Fitted the filter yesterday afernoon after cutting lugs of the underside of filter get a slit impovment on fuel econemy and bit more noise from the dumpvalve when changing gear.
