I am wanting to fit lighter weight crank and alternator pulleys to my car.  The fitting looks straight forward enough and apparently i can use my original belt and just fit it back on.  Has anyone done this before ? i think Dave K has and my main concern is removing the crank pulley as it would seem to need a special tool to remove it.  Is this true ? or does any one have any advise on this ?

Depends which ones you get, Jim has underdrive pulleys which need different belts and the type I got which uses the standard belts as you said.

I did attempt this but gave up, you are meant to be able to do it by putting the car in top gear then use a breaker bar.

I gave it a few goes but did'nt trust it, as I was on the boat the next day. Thus got the garage to do it.
