ScoobyAndy Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Welcome to the mad house Amanda. Enjoy your stay and hope you get your car going properly.
dave_morgan Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Hi Amanda, In all honesty it could be loads of things, so start with the simple things and if you don't get anywhere, take it back to Halleys. 1 - Check the oil level - Overfilling can cause strange behaviour. If it is over, take it back to Halleys, as they should drain it off and sort the other knock-on effects caused by the overfill. If oil ok.... 2 - Fill with a tank of optimax from a different garage to normal. 3 - Depending how technical you are, perform an ECU reset. Search the technical forum for instructions, but it's a pretty easy thing to do if you don't mind lying upside down in the foot well of your car, and plugging 2 plugs together!! This will force the ECU to 'forget' that you've had bad fuel in the past and set things back to defaults (a bit like rebooting a computer when it's misbehaving!). Beyond this, I'd head back to a dealer and let tem plug in their dioagnositc tools to find the problem, as it could be quite a number of things from leaky hoses, loose plugs to faulty sensors. HTH Dave

dave_morgan Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 I'm sure if Amanda wanted the attention, she could just drop in the word 'single' and suddenly the rush would begin !!
pedals Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 Hi Amanda and welcome to the forums Im from Inverkip, so have the same problem as yourself when it comes to optimax. The nearest shell to us is the one in Erskine. I normally fill the tank up when im passing the shell, but failing that i have to use BP ultimate and refrain from going too mental! pedals
