Strange Speeding Case.

I read today in the local rag about a guy sentenced for speeding on the A82. He was driving to work at 07:30 doing 54 mph in the 40 limit between Barnhill and Dumbuck junction. This is dual carriageway and there were no other cars on the road at the time.

He was nabbed and the penalties he received were a £250 fine, 3 points and a SIX MONTH BAN! face-icon-small-shocked.gif

The article didn't state so but I hope he had a history of it as this seems well harsh to me. Points and a fine, yes, but a six month ban for being 14 mph over the limit? Surely that's harsh.

PS. A word of warning - this stretch is heavily patrolled and the Traffic cars often nestle amongst the other cars in Lyndsay's garage.

They are b@st@rds around there, you only ever seem to see them and get pulled at stupid oclock in the morning or night. Like last year when i got pulled at 0600 on a sunday morning as i was on my way to KH for number plates ffs face-icon-small-disgusted.gif

Indeed a worthly criminal offence .......... Ranks right up there with rape & murder !!!face-icon-small-frown.gif

------------------------------------------------------------------------

He must be a serial offender to get such a harsh penalty for such a minor offence ??? face-icon-small-confused.gif

IT'LL BE 3-5 YEARS FOR A BALDY TYRE & A LIFE SENTENCE FOR PARKING ON YELLOW LINES NEXT !!!

meanwhile the *murderer/rapist/bank robber/peadophile ( *delete as appropriate) will get out in 2 years to make space for you !!!!! face-icon-small-tongue.gif

Ouch. Iam guessing by that then you were going a little bit fast then, hopefully it wasnt that bad.

I would assume the ban is for 'totting up' (12 points) and 6 months is then the minimum ban. Would have been a fixed penalty and wouldn't have gone to court otherwise (unless he pled not guilty...).

Just been reading the second local blat.

It turns out the guy had lost his licence before and the suspension had expired but he had neglected to reapply for a new one. Also he hadn't taken out insurance for the car (I wonder why!) and wouldn't have been given cover anyway.

In light of these details I now think the guy got off lightly but I don't think he would find it economical to insure another car in future.

I would stress again though that most of the A82 is heavily policed so be careful.
