Went down last Sat to sort out a service and he had just finished loading the last truckload, so this week is his first in new premises.

Was told it is a rototest dyno don?t know if 2wd or 4wd, but would imagine it would be 4wd due to most cars through there being imprezas and evo's.

I agree with you re the cost.

No idea dude, just when I was up the rally at Jurby just after a Chrimbo a certian scoob oriented bod up there said he already had his new gaff and had a 2wd dyno.

Who knows but fingers crossed its a 4wd one so that when I think I have mine close to the mark I can get it checked. Will he have anyone there that's capable of doing mapping etc?

Went down this afternoon to book the car in for a service, very nice setup.

Dyno room was still being painted, mid march for the gear to go in.

Dave did you manage to fit the lower strut brace you bought ? how difficult was it ? and how do you do it with not having a lift etc... ?

No not yet, I have access to a lift so may be doing it soon or I may get Paul to do it when next in for a service.

So is it going to be 2wd or 4wd then dude?????

doh[:$], I didn't think to ask.

I'm sure it will be 4wd, and even if it’s not initially all they have to do is buy 2 extra units to make it 4wd.

Fuel pump replacement

Remove rear seat;

RStrut-01.jpg

RStrut-02.jpg

Remove sound deadening;

RStrut-03.jpg

Then remove brace bar, only on Type R/Ra's AFAIK as this is classed as the solid rear bulkhead. :D

Also remove rear board;

FuelPump-01.jpg

I then disconnected the battery, as we don’t want any sparks with fuel all over the place.

Next remove the four screw's holding the access plate;

FuelPump-02.jpg

FuelPump-03.jpg

Then proceed to remove the fuel lines one at a time, this can get messy so have plenty of cloth ready to catch the fuel.

Also leave the car for about 2 hours after driving before doing this to allow the pressure in the system to subside, don't make a big difference but helps with excess fuel.

Remove all the retaining nuts on the tank access plate. Then to remove the pump assembly you have to lift and twist it out, you also have to pull the float up before it will come out.

FuelPump-04.jpg

As can be seen the old filter sock is full of contaminants from years of use.

Just to add I replaced the OEM fuel pump over a year ago and the general consensus on most forums was to keep the OEM filter sock as the one with the old kit was to small;

FuelPump-05.jpg

However the new kit comes with a filter sock the same size as OEM :P;

FuelPump-06.jpg

Next follow fitting instructions included in kit; I added a zip tie on the body of the pump to stop it moving as an extra precaution;

FuelPump-07.jpg

Then reverse the removal procedure, when all connected up don’t start the car straight away, turn the ignition on 2 or 3 times to allow fuel pressure to build in the system again and get rid of any air locks.

Well after swapping the fuel pump out there was nowt wrong with it as I suspected. :D

Anyone need a walbro pump?

The problem was due to the voltage issue I had with the ecu and yet an other faulty lambda sensor. :P

So wideband it is and a new A-pillar pod;

All fitted;

Just out of interest dude where is the brace bar in the pics m8? As you know my fuel pump failed outside Tescos at 7:30 pm on a friday night. Only took 30 mins to change though so wasnt all bad but just wondering about the bar.

Oh, sorry. Forgot to add........

Typical, don’t have a pic of it, but you can see where it is in the pic below.

The line running across the sound deadening about half way up.

Finally got me front mount IC spray to work this weekend.

2 none return valves inline and the nozzles dont drip.[:(]

Just need to obtain a few more nozzles then whip the bumper off and mount them.

Got back to the rebuild at last after spending the last few weeks playing with the ecu trying to get the car drivable. :D

Think it’s more potluck than mapping but it’s at an acceptable level now.

Left it needing the compressor housing to be modified, so one hacksaw and some patients;

TD05-47.jpg

Followed by an angle grinder;

TD05-48.jpg

We have a cut down housing;

TD05-49.jpg

As you can see a bit rough to start with;

TD05-50.jpg

Then test fit the cut off elbow inlet;

TD05-51.jpg

Needs inlet cutting down to size and then two half’s making flush fit ready for welding.

Made a start on tarting the components up! :o

First up actuator and water pipe;

That's brutal Dave!!  Don't think I could bring myself to do that to a turbo!

All coming together very nicely though mate. ;)

Ecu is still playing up now and then, stalled at halt sign a few times yesterday. :o

Moved on to tarting the exhaust housing and central body, all masked up and ready for some high temp paint;

TD05-54.jpg

TD05-55.jpg

After it had dried;

TD05-56.jpg

Fitting of oil/water pipes and clamp;

TD05-57.jpg

Followed by compressor housing (unfinished) and actuator, dry fit;

TD05-58.jpg

TD05-59.jpg

TD05-60.jpg

TD05-61.jpg

TD05-62.jpg

All I can say it better work after all this, no doubt it will look good covered in oil if it goes pop! :)

So just the compressor housing to weld up and polish then fit it. :P

Been a bit slack over the last few weekends as have been getting back into racing the old bike.

New purchase turned up today, going back to a 3" system for when the headers go back on so fitted it tonight;

HKS-01.jpg

HKS-02.jpg

Need to get a 3" gasket as it is blowing at the moment.

HKS-04.jpg

Silent it is not, and it should be louder once I mod it.
