Had a chat with a gentleman today who informed me that the laser detector part of all road angel products are to be disabled during download of updates.

This is to ensure Blackspot are operating within the bounds of some new law?

Can anyone else add to this?

i was in halfords looking at them and i was recommended to buy the mini. i was told that the old ones would be illegal by the new laws. the new one has the optional laser and can be removed very easily should you be stopped and checked??

I don't think they will be disabled, just that an option to disable laser alerts will have to be included. I have a classic road angel which you can just unplug the lasery bit from.

There's a new law due in very soon that will make any tools for detecting what speed measuring devices are active. This means laser alerts, radar alerts and devices that can tell you if a speed camera is actually active.

GPS units are not only legal, but they are full supported by the government.

your/my road angel complete with laser detector is as much use as breasts on a fish. why? the reason why as confirmed by a traffic cop a few months ago and also the fact its happened to me twice proves the following

1. The laser detector reacts slower than the police beam. the beam gets bounced off your grille/windscreen/bonnet-

beam fired...target hit.....0.1.....0.2.......0.3........0.4.........0.5........0.6 "LASER LASER CHECK YOUR SPEED" is heard from the unit.

Summary

So what im am saying is the beam is pinged off the car and your/my road angel reacts far to slow and in effect just informs you 100% that there is a white letter coming through your door within the next 14 days.

Happened to me more than once in the last X amount of time. laser laser check speed is always follwed by 3 points and 60 wonga

Apparently if they record an error a certain amunt of times against your car they come knocking to see

what the mystery box on you bumper is and if you really have automatic gates or garage door.

correct, you get flagged when it jams (or can be) so eventually after a certain amount of jams they will come enquire about your gates.

so....

find a set of gates, get to know the residents, when you get pinged........say you stay at your new friends house and dont like leaving the car outside hence---------------THE JAMMER

never be on the wrong side, just cloud the story slightly
