wedmonds Posted November 18, 2005 Posted November 18, 2005 Right... have not even collected my car yet but thought i would ask about the stereo etc in the a WRX STI 03 UK Type. I noticed they have a CD player and cass. as standard which looks like one big unit. Looks much bigger than a normal stereo so wondered what you do to change it? To be honest, not even sure if i would need to change it as i have not tested the sound out but i would like to increase Bass etc. Any thoughts chaps? Thanks Wayne
darryl_martin Posted November 18, 2005 Posted November 18, 2005 Haven't seen one of these units but stereos tend to come in set sizes, 1/2 DIN, DIN, 1/4 DIN for some equalizers. Tend to be bigger than "normal" stereos nowadays so manufacturers can get the sat nav screens in more easily. You'll probably find that once you get it out there'll be a bracket that will accommodate a standard unit and a blanking plate, or processor....
Cecil Posted November 19, 2005 Posted November 19, 2005 Wayne, When i got mine it had a single din stereo and a blanking plate, Just changed it for a double din kenwood dvd/navi etc makes the dash look alot better/smarter and gives good sound. Got a small tube in the boot for a bit of base Simon
j-k Posted November 19, 2005 Posted November 19, 2005 The standard stereo/speakers are absolutely sh1te, for want of a better word... You can replace the unit with a single din size cd/mp3 etc and get the hole thats left fitted with the cubby hole plastic case thingy from subaru. I think its the same as the one they fit in the forrester 4x4.. Go onto the ICE section of Scoobynet.co.uk ..... loads and loads of info on there jon
