st3ph3n Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 It does look decent. The old focus steadily grew on me from "I hate it" to "you know, I quite like it actually". But I'd still not have one. One of my colleagues at work has a focus saloon TDI as his company car and it is without question the worst handling car I've ever driven. Worse than the punto that had suspension so shoddy that I almost rolled it on three seperate occasions when driving normally. Worse than a renault laguna estate that had done 130 thousand miles on original shocks. It doesn't so much as oversteer but not actually steer at all. Once it has rolled about 3 feet and finally catches it then lurches about all over the shop. Then when you roll back out you have to watch for the weight to transfer all the way over to the other side, then back again and so forth for the next few seconds. You better just hope there's not another corner coming up.
Digital Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 I like the way they point out the obvious. Rear lights!! now theres something you dont see on many cars. lol Quite a lame advertising idea pointing out irrelevancies IMHO, although it is good how you can spin round the car to get a 360 degree view. As stated, nice, just would'nt want to own one. That coming from an ex ford owner, who decided to buy an STi due to running/maintainence costs of an Escort TDi (Seriously, im better off now)
RS Grant Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 I'm coming round to it..... Quicker than a previous generation Focus RS round The Ring. Also I've heard that if you are able to get hold of a Priviledge Voucher then you will get around 20% off the price too. Cheers, Grant
johnnyr6 Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 St3ph3n, i think there may have been something wrong wi your m8's car, i drive a focus zetec and it's a great car, handles really well. With a bit of persuasion it will oversteer like a goodun and as it's front wheel drive it obviously can be understeery. It won best car on top gear when it came out and iirc the rs version was quicker round the topgear track than the wrx.
st3ph3n Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 Perhaps the saloons just don't handle as well as the hatches. It's a company car certainly, and I've only driven it later in its life, but my colleague has had it since new and he says it's always been the same. Oh and it has no brakes either
johnnyr6 Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 you got me on the brakes m8, but i don't need em.. my sti is still on 2pots (even on track)
