craig mac Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 RB5 and a Silver wrx with 44* *** in a car park altens farm road?? Are you on here? ClutDave do you know these guys or indeed gals? Craig
clutdav Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 I too have seen the cars in the carpark but have never seen the individuals that own them. If we had fliers for the club we could put some on their windscreens - but I don't think security would give us their names. Come on guys if you are already members let yourselves be known. Dave
craig mac Posted October 21, 2005 Author Posted October 21, 2005 Flyers Good plan where can these be found? JohnS? Something you have? Craig
craig mac Posted October 21, 2005 Author Posted October 21, 2005 Dave Stop card them for not being safe members Craig
clutdav Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 << Dave Stop card them for not being safe members Craig >> I like your devious mind at work - and ideas for a reasonable stop card entry??? Dave
Iaing Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 Dave, were you in the Nexen car park today? I saw a car very similar to yours leaving the car park. I was in the Woodgroup building (Trafalgar House) Iain
clutdav Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 Nope mate wasn't me - is there another crystal grey STi in Aberdeen???? Dave
Iaing Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 Hmm could've been silver. Very similar to yours though Iain
clutdav Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 Found the owner of the grey RB5 at Tullos. It is a new start in my well engineering group that owns it - he is totally scooby mad aswell. Another scooby nut at Shell coolio......... Dave
clutdav Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 Will do chief. We went out for a blast in the cars this lunch time. He has a Biltz NUR exhaust, prodrive monoblock brake calipers on the front, knocklink led indicator, and Defi BF gauges (love these by the way) from what I can tell. But boy it flys - very different power delivery to our STi v9's. Nice guy we'll have to organise a costa skive next week. Dave
clutdav Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 That was the first time that I have been in a classic shaped scooby - apart from a WRX wagon, which was driven very slowly. There was none of the neck snapping acceleration that you get in a v9. It was a very smooth power delivery starting much lower down in the rev range - smaller turbo maybe. I can testify that the yoko parada's (I think that's what they were called) he has on the car are very good in the dry. A lighter car with 260-270bhp is quite a lot of fun - but I would NOT swap mine for the world. your not going to tell me it is fit for your car are you Dave? - I am not sure what you mean Craig??? Dave
craig mac Posted October 22, 2005 Author Posted October 22, 2005 Dave Standing start straight line? twisty's? Do you think it wolud keep up with you?Is it fit to beat your one? Craig
clutdav Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 << Dave Standing start straight line? twisty's? Do you think it wolud keep up with you?Is it fit to beat your one? Craig >> Craig, I think that Chris's RB5 would get off the line slightly quicker than our 300bhp STi v9's, due to the turbo coming in eariler and small matter of a 200kg advantage, but we would go past it as the speed increases due to the higher torque and power. I think rolling start with our turbos going we would beat it but his turbo comes in around 2750 rpm! On the twisty's it would be very close. If we keep our DCCD's in auto mode then it would be even steven's - although we should have the extra adjustability to take it in the end. Having said that the RB5 is a very accomplished car and feels really rather rapid. I was impressed as it was a very easy car to drive quickly. Dave

Dave >> I would think it would be quite a fast car guys, anyone notice the "BHP Developments" sticker on the back? Like to hazard a guess who fitted all his stuff for him (Brakes, Defi's, KnockLink)?...................and he still has the Cat Downpipe in as I changed it for his MOT and we'll (hopefully) get it changed back when I get home. Then it really flies Russell
craig mac Posted October 25, 2005 Author Posted October 25, 2005 I was unaware that Defi's brakes and a Knocklink made your car go faster PMSL Craig

2559B Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 I'd have my money on the RB5 ( not that i'm bias or anything !!!!! ) what is the weight difference between classic & new-age ??? 150kg ???
craig mac Posted October 26, 2005 Author Posted October 26, 2005 Standard RB5 With Decat V's Prodrive Sti9 decatted ? Beg to differ am afraid Craig

craig mac Posted October 27, 2005 Author Posted October 27, 2005 Dave I do not disagree with Russ.. This is just my personal opinion, and from experience lately in taking on a few classics.....that may or may not have been modified as they have all been unsuccesful Not that i dont think for one minute that one day i will get the ar5e ripped right off my car from one of the more seriously modded cars, but up till now it is yet to happen Fun, it is all good fun Craig
