TypeRA28 Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 I am considering removing the cover from the underside of the vent (under the bonnet) on the air intake side of the bonnet, to try and put colder air into the air filter. Has anyone else done this, or is this a stupid idea, and will probably end up damaging something, due to to much water getting in. Advice kindly accepted. Craig
ken555 Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 This won't in itself let cold air in. Look at the direction of the vents on the early cars. It's designed to extract air. So run some sort of cold air feed and open the vent to allow a good flow of it past the filters. Watch out for the filter getting wet in Scottish weather as well. I have a blitz so not a problem.
TypeRA28 Posted October 14, 2005 Author Posted October 14, 2005 Mines is HKS so is open. Just trying to think of ways of keeping it cool.

frank c Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 I took both off for a while , until Andy F said i was better to replace the one over my standard airbox to protect my MAF sensor.
WRC No 1 Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 Craig this is the one i have on my wagon and it keeps all water of the filter. wullie ps this is not my car
WUZ Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 If you want to get more air onto your induction kit without getting water on it................Remove the rubber strip on the bonnet just where it sits above the Drivers Headlight. This gives any extra supply of outside air to keep the air temp through the Induction kit lower. Russell
