ScoobyAndy Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 as title. iam wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of some good decent back roads in and around the stirling area. iam getting bored driving the same roads at the moment so its time to discover some new ones. any help and recomendations would be much appreciated Andy
IanJ Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 Andy, It depends where you are travelling to and from. Best roads for me are out the back and onwards to Loch Lomond (Sorry useless with road numbers). Also the roads around Doune and out towards Hi Soobs neck of the woods. Going back towards Edinburgh, come off the motorway at Linlithgow and take the road that runs parralel with the motorway toward South Queensferry etc, providing there isn't too much traffic it can be a good laugh. Ian
st3ph3n Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 Totally the wrong direction - but a big shout for the A70 between the M74 and Ravenstruther which provided me with no end of fun in both directions last week. I came up behind a full loaded coal lorry who I thought would have been easy pickings on the backroads but damn do those boys know the roads. Many wheel drifting at 55mph round tight corners in a 40 ton beast. Still got him though. Albeit half a mile before where I was going, which was where he was going too.
weeb Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 andy give me a buz when you are over stirling falkirk way and we will go for a blast in our wee chav cars!!!
Gumball Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 Andy, you ready for more fun already? 1. Leave stirling and head west towards Glasgow on the A811 until you get to Kippen area. 2. Take the A81 towards Loch Katrine 3. Take the A821 along Loch Venechar to Bochastle 4. Turn left onto the A84 north along Loch Lubnaig right up to Lochearnhead. 5. Follow it up along the A85 to Crainlarich, then either head back down the side of LochLomond or go mental and head towards Glen Coe !!!! (i would) 6. return springs back to HQ and dont even think about doing it without me
ScoobyAndy Posted October 4, 2005 Author Posted October 4, 2005 cheers guys chris.. yeah iam. the other night got me back into bad habbits again
IanJ Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 Thats the roads Chris. Obviously all those years in the boy scouts paid off Andy, if you want to borrow the wagon just drop off a 4k deposit and you can have it for as long as you like.
Gumball Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 << Obviously all those years in the boy scouts paid off >> the scouts the gumball was in hope this clears this up?
ScoobyAndy Posted October 4, 2005 Author Posted October 4, 2005 << Andy, if you want to borrow the wagon just drop off a 4k deposit and you can have it for as long as you like >> i'll just leave the keys in the yellow 1 for you then
