Philips car audio

When I bought my x-reg the dealer gave me the audio that the previous owner had taken out - its a Philips 79RC388/92 which I believe was the cars original audio unit. It seems to be a tuner/cassette and cd player but where do the cds go - does the unit open up when powered up or does it require a seperate changer? Would anyone have a surplus manual, or one that could be copied? Can the unit be transferred into an older y-reg Fiesta? Any advice would be welcome. Thanks. I have tried going on to various Philips sites but the product no is not recognised - presumeably too old now.

Lol that is a few years old !!!!!

If I remember correctly it cam with a 6 disc cd changer which was boot mounted or under the front passenger seat !!!!!

Yes it can be put into any other car but you may have to cut wires and connect them using bullit connectors......

Give me a shout if you get stuck

Halfords or a decent stereo shop sell adaptors to fit most stereos into most cars, they have a plug on one end that fits the cars original wiring and a plug on the other end that fits the stereo wiring

Tony and Dal , thanks for the advise - I've poked around under the front passenger seat and found a couple of connectors so the unit must have had separate cd changer. As far as a manual goes I realise now that since this was the original unit the operating instructions are included in the owners manual which I still have. Cheers guys face-icon-small-smile.gif

Not sure that PMs getting through.......how much did you want for the changer? I'm at work Saturday and Sunday night so can let my friend know and she can then make her mind up. face-icon-small-smile.gif
