millsy13 Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 Hi I have my 05 STI ppp'd and was wondering if anyone can tell me whether the centre section on the PPP kit is an unresonated pipe or not also can someone tell me the difference between the unresonated and resonated pipe in terms on power/noise gain. Cheers Wil
Iaing Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 Im pretty sure the resonated section is only there to reduce noise levels, Im guessing it will be a resonated section in your sti (it is on a standard WRX). On the wrx, the PPP only replaces the centre cat not the resonated centre section, I think its the same for the STI but I may be wrong. Im sure a Sti owner will be along shortly to clarify Iain
sti-zlv Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 Your centre section will be resonated mate, it is just for noise levels. As far as I'm aware makes no performance diference. Your downpipe will have a sports cat wich should be your only Cat on a PPP. Matt
millsy13 Posted September 21, 2005 Author Posted September 21, 2005 Cheers for the info, does swapping it out for an unresonated one make a bike difference in noise?
Gumball Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 the centre section of the PPP kit is the same as the standard subaru one TTBOMK
fai17 Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 Thats correct Gumball. To make any gain you would need to change to a full 3" decatted system and snakehead.
craig mac Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 Millsy I recently changed out my PPP resonated centre section and refitted the prodrive back box. It made a little difference on noise level on idle not a lot But there is quite a nice roar when its up at 4k rpm not too loud Craig
