UPdate.......

Well it turns out that we finished 4minutes and 52 seconds behind the eventual winner(wrc impreza).

The first couple of stages went fairly well and we managed to pick up a bit of speed.

we managed to blow off an intercooler hose nearing the end of stage 2, but that was only a minor problem.

Stage three went okay, again getting a bit quicker...but on stage four we started to get what we think were over boost problems. The car would boost to about 1.6bar and then not boost at all for a mile or so, but then it would come back and be okay once again.

Going into the flying finish on stage 4 we had "A bit of an incident" where we came face to face with a very very large hay bale...Only minor damage was incurred, broken headlight, bent bonnet(sort of fixeable), and the front bumper pushed back about an inch.

The next couple of stages wre incident free apart from the coming and going of the boost problem, so we were fairly pleased on the whole..

Onto stage 7 then, and a flying start ,into the first corner and the back end stepped out, Arron got it back, but it then went the other way, sending us onto the wet slippery grass and into a couple of spins. We span back out onto the track backwards (i think)and got going once again. We were both laughing by this time....lol

Stage 8 was a rerun of stage 7, so this time we allowed enough time for the tyres to warm up properly and managed to complete the rest of the event without any dramas...

Overall, an absolutely cracking day,the car performed well,Arron drove very well, and i managed to get MOST of the notes rightface-icon-small-shocked.gifface-icon-small-shocked.gif

We stayed to the end to pick up our first (and hopefully not the last) trophies for second in class....

We were sorry that we couldnt invite you all to come along and support us, but it was a closed event with no spectators (only service crew)

Now that we have got the first event under our belts, we would be more than happy to have any one come along to give us some support..

Alot of people including Marshalls , Time keepers , and other competitors paid compliments to the way the car looked and performed...It cetainly turned a few heads

We did manage to get some IN CAR video footage from the last 2 stages, so i will hopefully be able to burn that to DVD this week sometime..

We were let down by our tyre supplier with only a couple of days to go, so we ran the whole event on one set of half worn tyres..(definately some time lost there)..

Finally A VERY BIG THANK YOU to all of our sponsors for all of the bits on the car.

If anyone knows of someone who may be interested in sponsoring the car please contact myself or Arron. We could really do with a TYRE sponsor...

Thanks

Well done Jon, you performed very well, even with your upside down shoes on, it must have been the gloves with L and R on.

The service crew were gr8, and the event organised very well, I would love to do it again.

We even made the local ( cambridge ) paper with the well prepared car.

As Jon said a MASSIVE thanks to all our sponsors, without your help we would not have been able to do this.

A big thanks to all that helped ( even if you don't read this ).

See you all soon with some pics and in-car vid footage.

It was a gr8 day as I am sure Jon will tell you all.

It wasn't the best driving conditions, very fine rain and very very slippery, especially through the tight twisty building sections with the over hanging trees, these bits were flat in 2nd and 3rd gears, then once the stages got out into the open it was fast sweeping bends, 4th and 5th gears, braking HARD AND I MEAN HARD for hairpins and 90's, right to the red line and almost hitting max speed..

The cars gearing seemed to be perfect for the day, and we hit the red line in top a few times.

The damage was very minor considering the size of the horses grub we argued with, 1 cracked, no smashed headlight, 1 broken indicator and a few dinks and small dents on the bonnet, nothing that a few stickers won't hide, a few battle scars!

Pics and DVD to follow.

If anyone has a nearside ( passenger side ) 1993-1996 headlight and indicator please let JK or me know.

Well done you two, - nice to see you both came out of the experience unscathed face-icon-small-smile.gif , and most importantly you both enjoyed yourselves face-icon-small-smile.gif Let us know when the next one is & I'll see if I can arrange a KS reception committee face-icon-small-happy.gif As for parts, you are more than welcome to have a rummage in my cellar, I've got various bits & bobs down there - Jon, glad U got most of the notes right, if I had of been reading them Arron would have ended up going in the opposite direction face-icon-small-confused.gifface-icon-small-happy.gif

I'd like to add my congratulations to the boys even thought we still keep in touch by phone. I for one know all the hard work and decation the pair of them have put into the project. I was beginning to wonder if it was ever going to happen, but knowing the them so well i should have never doubted their dedication. WELL DONE you both deserve it. Also a big HELLO to everyone at kentscoobies who still remember me i'm still alive and kicking. I would also like to say congratulations to Mark and Lesley on their new arrival.
