frank c Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 Hi guys, just got back from Perth having got Prodrive settings done. Steering wheel is slightly squint and car pulls to the left...NOT HAPPY.. I was going to turn back up the motorway but the traffic and road works were a nightmare.. Now i have to look forward to another 100+ miles round trip to get the damn thing sorted
wrxmania Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 A bit of a distance to travel to get it done! There are severalgood central belt places could do it too. Unlucky mate
st3ph3n Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 Frank, I thought mine either pulled very slightly left too (at low-medium speed), or the steering wheel is offset by a degree or two clockwise. All after getting the prodrive settings last Friday. Someone told me that this was fairly normal with a properly setup car as they naturally pull slightly left. HOWEVER, as I've said to many many many people - the car now feels immeasurably better. 2 weeks ago I could have told you how fast I was going on the motorway based on how skittish and twitchy the car felt, now I can be at 125 on my empty private test motorway without even thinking I've got anywhere near the ton because the car just feels so planted. The turn in and handling round corners is also much better, but that's also to do with the droplinks.
frank c Posted September 10, 2005 Author Posted September 10, 2005 St3ph3n..Where did you get yours done M8 , and did you take it back to get sorted???
st3ph3n Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 Hypertech organised for it to be done at Progrip in Bonnybridge whilst I was getting the suspension mods done. I haven't taken it back yet, and don't think I will, unless anyone else would like to contridict the person who told me they do pull a wee bit left.

Its probably the front camber not being spot on. I got mines done by Greersport and was set to group n settings rather than prodrive setting.Group n setting has slightly more negative front camber and a slight toe in on the rear. If any one need help just let me know.
frank c Posted September 10, 2005 Author Posted September 10, 2005 Thanks fai 17.. I asked for prodrive settings and the guy adjusted the front and rear.. I wasn't sure at first and thought the tracking was out , but it does pull to the left slightly and the steering wheel is off centre a bit.. Should i get the tracking and balancing checked aswell? Or should it mainly be down to the settings being off?? Cheers Frank
st3ph3n Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 I was out in the car there just now and concentrated on the steering and where the car was pulling and I'll retract my previous statements. On a flat road it is now going straight with the steering wheel in a straight line. I think my car was pulling right before I got it done and, combined with a lot of right to left road camber on a number of roads I use to get to work, I was thinking the car was now pulling left. Might be worth giving it a day or so to get a real feel for it Frank, or let a mate drive it without telling them whats wrong to see if they spot it too.
gordon_kerr Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 << On a flat road it is now going straight with the steering wheel in a straight line. >> i would hope so
P1_Paul Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 I had my geometry done at Eden Subaru a couple of weeks ago, my steering wheel is out to the left and the steering is very light at high speed. Hopefully they can sort it when it goes in for a service on Monday.
fai17 Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 Frank C. The reason why the steering is not straight is probably the camber on both sides is not equal. They must match up. Tracking and alignment is the same thing btw I wouldn't be happy with the steering wheel not being straight as it the thing you hold while driving.I bet you look at the steering wheel more now because it's not straight. Where do you stay???As i would reccomend greersport as they done mine right first time. Btw my m8 Gordon(G6ARY) works at Halleys and he wants Greersport to do his tracking on his 02WRX after he put Prodrive springs on last week and that must be saying something..

Must Subaru garage just set the car up back to factory settings. So if you want to drive the car more sportingly you have to dial in a different setting which they won't do. You need to take the car eslewhere to have it done and get more negative camber dialled into the front which makes a scooby turn in much better.
frank c Posted September 11, 2005 Author Posted September 11, 2005 fai 17, Your right, now i can't stop looking at the steering wheel.... Totally spoiled my drive home from Perth.......I couldn't wait to drive the car with the new settings.. Now i can't be bothered taking the car out of the garage until i get it put right.. Frank ps; where is Greersport????
p1ggm Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 where did you get it done in perth, i got mine done from target 2 weeks ago after getting the anti lift kit fitted, the car is spot on, no complaints at all and i would reccomend them

Paul P.S. I;m assuming that the prodrive settings have ned. camber dialled in to the front?!
