Still looking for headers

I am about to buy GT Spec Headers and up pipe or Gruppe S Headers and Helix up pipe.

What do yous think and why???

I think yes because you get more torque for your candy and..........................you get more torque

Up pipe just feeds the turbo better. No restrictions, blah blah blah.

Just buy them. if you dont like them, sell em again

just do it mate, both will benefit your car. HKS headers are first class, got them on mine and had them on my wrx before this as well, my mate also runs them on his P1 .......Up pipe is an inexpensive mod that is well worth doing,.....

Hi Peter , i have the GT spec headers on mw wrx and boy do they work well and they went on without any trouble.

The car is putting out almost 300fp torqu and 280bhp

And they keep the scooby Rumble

I used HKS equal lenth on my classic, along with a custom H&S uppipe.

Excellent gains, and didn't miss the burble at all...not once it's screaming at higher revs.

The gruppe s ones are an HKS replica (HKS are unequal btw) and are of really good quality. There is not much between the gruppe s ones and the GT spec although i have seen both and i prefer the quality of the gruppe s ones which is why i went for them.

If i were you i would look on scoobynet and in the group buy section as gruppe s are doing them shipped for a very good price direct to you as a 'gift' if you get what i mean.

I was part of the scoobynet group buy on the Version 2 Gruppe-S Headers purchase.

These units make such a difference to your performance and SOUND.

I managed to get the Headers (wrapped by a friend) Up-pipe and downpipe delivered for £490 all in.

I remember laying my gruppe-s headers next to a set of Roger Clark headers at JVS and poor old Robin payed almost £1200 for what looked like near identical units.

The only problem i encountered with them was my car started over boosting due to the increased exhaust flow through the turbo!

Well worth the purchase,

They actually make the sound a lot more of a raspy sound until it warms up and arent the main fator in making the car sound louder, that is what a downpipe/centre/backbox does most of all. The reason they make you more power is to do with gasflow through to the turbo and allow you to run lower boost for the same power. BUT only if youy map for this change as with most additions.

Fitted my XS headers last week... lost the burble... but got a slab of mid range torque. Up pipe made a big difference too. All sealed and delivered for not very much £££ at all ....

The burble has to stay, fair enough you get a wee bit more pony's but thats part of the reson i bought the car ! I will just have to try and pull power from else where...

I agree also, the whole point of owning a Impreza turbo is the amazing sound you get which so recognisable!

Good luck with the headers and remember to get them wrapped before installing.

Don't be shy with the metal clips and wrap itself, you don't want the hassle of redoing them while still on the car. (like me!!!)

Thats why i'm going for these headers as i don't want to lose the burble too as its the main reason i bought the Uk version rather than JDM version

I will make sure it's wrapped properly and will let yous know how i get on with it after the remap with the GEMS ecu.
