ian_finlayson Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 Hi Huys and Gals Just finalised purchase of some used eibach pro kit springs and anti lift kit for my RB5. Now looking to replace the dampers. I am drawn to bilstein but which ones - Sprint or original replacements. Or any other suggestions. Would love p1 suspension but cant get a hold of them right now so trying to get as near as possible on a limited budget. On the shopping list too: Whiteline rear adjustable anti roll bar - should I get front too? White line drop links or should I get powerflex ones? Need alignment check once fitted, where to get laser alignment done in central/west of scotland Finally and worst of all 90,000 mile service - AWD, Hypertech or subaru dealer. Thanks Ian

ian_finlayson Posted July 31, 2005 Author Posted July 31, 2005 Thanks Chris, I'll bear that in mind. FYI I'm away at work abroad and wont be getting work done until September/October. Want to get a head start and arrnge things/purchases Ian More advice still welcome
Gumball Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 ill make sure your car gets ticked over while your away if you want???
chesney Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 No experience of Subaru fitments by Bilstein but I do on my pug. The Streetline kit is pants, way too soft. The Sprintline on the other hand is a bit more like it. A tad stiffer than standard but still gives a good ride. I tried AVO's once and they were useless. Bilstein combined with Eibach springs were a good choice in my experience.
ian_finlayson Posted August 1, 2005 Author Posted August 1, 2005 << ill make sure your car gets ticked over while your away if you want??? >> Chris, my baby is tucket up in my parents garage sleeping on a diet of draper battery master everyweekend and a regular check of tyre pressures. Thanks for the offer, its funnyhow many friends I have who have offered their services too!
ian_finlayson Posted August 1, 2005 Author Posted August 1, 2005 BTTT Still looking for suggestions where to get the stuff and also where to get alignment done
IanJ Posted August 2, 2005 Posted August 2, 2005 I'd second Duncan at Hypertech. He can also arrange for the alignment to be done at Pro-Grip. So drop your car off, go work off shore and come back to a completely sorted car. AWD have a good rep too (only ever bought parts from them, and they were very helpful). Dunno if they can do a full geometry job (or have somewhere that can do it) Ian
sma01 Posted August 2, 2005 Posted August 2, 2005 back up all the posts which recommend Duncan @ Hypertech, wouldnt send the car anywhere else mate, first class job and service, not to mention free chuppa chupps lollies Scott
Scooby Dooby Blue Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 I would recommend Fiskins in Forfar to carry out the work. They did a similar set-up for me on my last car: Springs, swaybar links (Whiteline), Prodrive geometry set-up etc It was 3 hours labour all in for the above. Very reasonable rates for a dealership and you get SIDC discount on top! I would avoid AWD at all costs. I could give you a list longer than your arm of people that have had bad experiences there!
wrxmania Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 Swifts/Extreme Motorsport in Whitburn, West Lothian - 2 minutes from Junction 4 of the M8. They will do the work for you - they have their own, best quality new 4 wheel alignment gear, are Subaru and Mitsubishi specialists and are "doing up" their premises at the moment. Used by me and many others to do work such as oil changes, they are Whiteline authorised dealers etc. Brian
