Iaing Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Just bought one of these second hand off e-bay for next to nothing. Has anyone else got one or something similar? If anything it looks quite smart, has a stainless steel tube that tuns into the wing. Are they any good? Iain
dan_jess Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Hi m8, just done a search for these induction kits, pretty smart, does the pipe sit near the wing or does it run thru into the inner wing?
Iaing Posted July 28, 2005 Author Posted July 28, 2005 Yeah by the looks of things it'll run into the wing
dan_jess Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 I was going to pipe my filter into the inner wing but it would need to sit to far down in the wing and im a bit wary of water getting to it, after i took the cold air resonator out there seems to be more than enuf cold air getting thru so mite just leave it next to the wing with a heat shield
Iaing Posted July 28, 2005 Author Posted July 28, 2005 Yeah this thing i've bought has a bend in it so it sits low down in the wing
sma01 Posted July 30, 2005 Posted July 30, 2005 down in the wing is the best place for it mate, keeps it nice and cool as it isnt drawing warm air from the engine, got the aps cold air intake on my car and even after going out a run the induction kit is still cold, which it should be
Iaing Posted July 30, 2005 Author Posted July 30, 2005 yeah i was going to go for the aps, but then saw this aem on e-bay for cheap so decided to give it a go. The guy is going to send it up to me on monday so i'll post some pics up once its fitted. Iain
dougster Posted July 30, 2005 Posted July 30, 2005 I'd be carefull as fitting a cold air kit may have potential MAF destroying properties without re-map. I'm not greatly technically minded but I would ask for clarification on this one.
Iaing Posted August 1, 2005 Author Posted August 1, 2005 Can anyone else confirm this? My friend has one on his leon cupra and is seems to have had no ill affects on his maf. I cant see it being any worse for a maf than an induction kit but i may be wrong... Iain
sma01 Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 agree with Dougster mate, with fitting one of these you should be looking at a remap, had to drive v carefully after mine was fitted until map, my mate with P1 was the same Scott
