AEM Cold Air Induction - Any good?

Just bought one of these second hand off e-bay for next to nothing.

Has anyone else got one or something similar? If anything it looks quite smart, has a stainless steel tube that tuns into the wing.

Are they any good?

I was going to pipe my filter into the inner wing but it would need to sit to far down in the wing and im a bit wary of water getting to it, after i took the cold air resonator out there seems to be more than enuf cold air getting thru so mite just leave it next to the wing with a heat shield

down in the wing is the best place for it mate, keeps it nice and cool as it isnt drawing warm air from the engine, got the aps cold air intake on my car and even after going out a run the induction kit is still cold, which it should beface-icon-small-smile.gif

yeah i was going to go for the aps, but then saw this aem on e-bay for cheap so decided to give it a go.

The guy is going to send it up to me on monday so i'll post some pics up once its fitted.

I'd be carefull as fitting a cold air kit may have potential MAF destroying properties without re-map.

I'm not greatly technically minded but I would ask for clarification on this one.

Can anyone else confirm this?

My friend has one on his leon cupra and is seems to have had no ill affects on his maf. I cant see it being any worse for a maf than an induction kit but i may be wrong...

agree with Dougster mate, with fitting one of these you should be looking at a remap, had to drive v carefully after mine was fitted until map, my mate with P1 was the same
