andy Posted July 12, 2005 Posted July 12, 2005 From today's Scotsman: The longest continuous speed trap in Britain is to be launched this week, it has emerged. The system measures the time it takes cars to travel along various points of a 26-mile stretch of road and then calculates their average speed. If drivers have been speeding, they could face three points on their licence and a £100 fine. The £20-million initiative on the A77 from Kilmarnock to Ayr starts on Thursday and is the first of its kind in Scotland. It is designed to cut deaths on the road, which is one of Scotland's worst accident blackspots with 314 accidents in just over five years, including 15 fatalities and 78 serious injuries.
WRC No 1 Posted July 12, 2005 Posted July 12, 2005 Thanks for informing us all of this the specs system is a good idea as that road is seriously bad for accidents! At least we all know it starts on thursday! claire
st3ph3n Posted July 12, 2005 Posted July 12, 2005 26 miles! Eeek. I tend to be a 70 man on A roads like that anyway, but the foot does occasionly wander downwards. I thought they'd just improved that road to make it less of a death trap?
WRC No 1 Posted July 12, 2005 Posted July 12, 2005 No these are really heavy duty cameras pick up a lot Claire

fraser_drinkwater Posted July 12, 2005 Posted July 12, 2005 They are a good idea if they stop deaths, but what about the motor bikes? Think i might get one for going to the Ayr meets
