INDUCTION KIT

Gordy;

Looks you are going to spend serious money and if you are it is perhaps best to go with proven car tuners and allow them (to a certain degree) to advise you on what kit to go for, rather than you decide and take a mix/match of bits and pieces along thereafter to someone like Andy F or RCM.

I went to RCM simply because I wanted a proven system, with bags of reliability and you don?t have to read too many Jap mags to see what they can do. Further to that RCM have done a lot of work on another Sti 7 from Aberdeenshire and I was impressed with what they and Bob Rawle can do. RCM produce big horse power cars on a weekly business and you can't help but be impressed with their staff and their premises. In saying that I didn?t know of AndyF, only heard his name so to speak at that time. If I were to do it all again I would no doubt go to him as logistically it would make so much more sense that heading to Desford way towards the bottom end of England.

Horses for course, but do the ground work and don?t rush in. Take time, to save time in the long run when it comes to serious engine modifications; and get the job done right, first time around. I did and am delighted with the results...so far face-icon-small-wink.gif

Peter,

I don?t know; never had it on the rollers and not bothered with figures to be honest. It won?t be making crazy big figures, it all about the package and how the things drives and delivers power/torque. With the lightweight fly wheel and front end pulleys the car has no engine braking; it spools up like a Jap motor bike and rugs like a train. Very drivable car with good handling to match and with the Bob Rawle re-map it is very smooth right across the revs from 2500 onwards. I have mine stripped of all excess equipment, noise insulation, spare wheel, jack, boot lining, under engine/gearbox tray covers, bonnet lining, etc. As quick as you need on the B roads I would think?..it makes for lively driving and I have not had anything embarrass me so far. It fair to say it walks away from guys I know with a standard PPP car and a 330 evo...like they have a parachute tied behind them so I?m happy with the results so far face-icon-small-happy.gif

Got the APS cold air induction kit on my car mate, nice bit of kit, sits nicely in the inner arch, and even after a drive is still really cold, asked andy F about this before fitting it and am sure his words were along the lines of "the APS induction kit is the only induction kit he would fit on a subaru...

After only a 5 minute stealth pax ride in this beast I can confirm that it is COMPLETELY INSANE !!! The way it piles on the power is simply scary. It has you changing gears so swifly such is it's gargantuan tarmac munching appetite. As for the sound it makes........it's simply intoxicating face-icon-small-confused.gif.........I can't imagine another car on the raod that would take it on my favourite B-road. The chassis set up is pretty sorted too. Jools had this thing cornering like a monorail and that was on his winter tyres face-icon-small-shocked.gif......In summary, I'd sell me left "baw" to won such a rapido ride face-icon-small-blush.gif

Jools

It sounds like you've picked the best man for the job but it must have been costly thou.

I am sure you are well happy with the job but not everyone is as maybe dedicated as yourself.

Although i would like that too but i think you need both money and time.

As for the induction kit it sounds like Darth Vaida and sucks more cold air than you know what to do with.

Well reccommended if you like the noise.I do anyway.

It's all a personal thing so you make your own mind up or go to a Glasgow meet and i'll let you sample it.

Cheers

P.S I would love to see your car sometimes Jools.. face-icon-small-smile.gif
