TheGza Posted June 15, 2005 Posted June 15, 2005 Anyone here have this set up? Got them on mine and was looking to pick the brains of others who have 'em fitted Cheers Chris
JamesF Posted June 15, 2005 Posted June 15, 2005 alright chris, i've got them on my car too. whats up ???
andy_robertson Posted June 15, 2005 Posted June 15, 2005 ive got a set and gettin them put on on monday think the set up is 30-35mm drop on the fronts 25-30mm on the rears
JamesF Posted June 15, 2005 Posted June 15, 2005 Are you referring to the continuel rattling when on cobbles etc or the soft dunk they make when you go up and down a speed bump etc ??
spooks Posted June 15, 2005 Posted June 15, 2005 Had em on my Bug but prefered the Prodrive ones to be honest, seems to understeer less. Never had it on track though Spooks
JamesF Posted June 15, 2005 Posted June 15, 2005 They were on my car when I bought it but have noticed a big reduction in understeer since fitting my front strut brace.
TheGza Posted June 15, 2005 Author Posted June 15, 2005 << Are you referring to the continuel rattling when on cobbles etc or the soft dunk they make when you go up and down a speed bump etc ?? >> I have found them a bit noisy now and then - I take it yours does this too? Had a quick look at them the other day - the "Eibach" writing on the outside of the spring is upside down - are yours the same?
spooks Posted June 15, 2005 Posted June 15, 2005 Sounds right Eibach upside down and rattle like a pig Spooks
JamesF Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 I'll need to have a proper look at them as I've never been that close to notice !! I'll keep you posted. ScottP did agree with me about the rattling and when he took me out in his scooby it was exactly the same as my car. One way to sort it would be to wrap the tops and bottoms of the springs to stop them rattling on the mounts.
Iaing Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 Mine are spot on, no annoying clunks, rattles ect and improved handling. Need strut braces now. Iain
JamesF Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 lucky for some !!! I always fancied getting hold of a set of standard springs to see if the noises persisted but it's too much expense and hastle getting them changed over. Just ned to put up with it I guess By the way, even just fitting the front strut brace makes the front of the car so much more tighter and reduces understeer BIG time
Iaing Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 Sound like they havent been fitted properly to me. I'd get them checked out. Yeah strut braces are on the list Iain
dougster Posted June 21, 2005 Posted June 21, 2005 I had Eibachs fitted improperly on my classic initially and they clunked like mad!! I got them fitted properly before changing to H&Rs with MRT drop links and bumpsteer modification!! Night and day!!!!!
JamesF Posted June 21, 2005 Posted June 21, 2005 cheers Dougster, I'll check it out. I've only had the car since april but already had 2 rear shockies and one front replaced under warranty, wuld the springs not have had to be removed by Subaru to do this ? I would hope they fitted them on again correctly, unsure though !! What do you think ?
dougster Posted June 21, 2005 Posted June 21, 2005 I had a 'qualified tech' fit them in the first place. They go in one way only. I had 3 out of 4 fitted incorrectly!!!!!!!!
TheGza Posted June 21, 2005 Author Posted June 21, 2005 Thanks for the info guys JamesF - did you manage to get your shocks replaced whilst you had the Eibachs on the car?
JamesF Posted June 21, 2005 Posted June 21, 2005 sure did Chris. no problems with that at all. The car went in for a service and Nobles told me I needed 3 shocks, 2 sensors and front anti roll bar bushes. i thought the car was ok too. all replaced with no mention of the springs.
TheGza Posted June 21, 2005 Author Posted June 21, 2005 That was handy mate - I might drop mine into the garage and see what they say anyway - they can only tell me to feck off I s'pose PS I'm pretty certain they would have had to remove your springs when replacing your shocks James
JamesF Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 you would think so but you never can tell if a jobs been done right. I'll need to get 5 minutes to myself and have a look under the car. I suppose I could do it while I was changing my rear drop links on Sunday, woo hoo, report to follow. By the way Chris, I was under the impression that your car was an 04 model, am I wrong ???
TheGza Posted June 22, 2005 Author Posted June 22, 2005 It's a blobeye '04 model if that's what you mean James, but is 03 reg'd
JamesF Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 Cool. I'm sure Scott said that the car was on 04. How are you enjoying it anyway ? Better than the CTR ?
