Also what are the best plugs to buy and where to get them?

Hey matt

Used to run Mobil 1 motorsport 15w50 before i changed to Silkolene Pro S 10W50 which makes cold starts easier but has the same protection. Check out http://www.opieoils.co.uk/ they are great value for all oils. For diffs and gearbox use the Silkolene Syn 75w90 which is the best. This is assuming this is for a classic face-icon-small-wink.gif

PS NGK PFR7B's are the best...go to Pentland components and pick them up for £33 for 4 face-icon-small-wink.gif

I agree with Coulty, Richard is the man to see.

Unless your in Aberdeen in which case, I can get them for £33 for 4 and there's no need to pay for postage!

I'm a bit concerned about 'oilman'. Perhaps it's just me but his cut 'n' paste sales tactics just don't wash. Whenever he's a asked a probing question he ignores it. Been on many other marque forums lately? He's on all of them doing exactly the same trick... It's just my personal feeling but i don't trust the guy. face-icon-small-sad.gif

Motul from AS for me by the way and NGKPFR7B's from Rich at Pentland Components, gapped to 0.5mm!!

Matt,

Which model is your car.

Carl,

Perhaps you'd like to catch up with me at Rotorstock (mon) or any other show this year on my stand just to see that I'm for real!

What question have I avoided and why Motul from Alyn and not me? Is that because I recommend 5w-40 and he 15w-50 I wonder?

What cut and paste are we talking about? Am I not entitled to post articles that I have written myself or others that I have permission to from the author?

I feel it's unfair to judge me if you don't know me, so go on, come and meet me!

Cheers

I would love to meet you Simon and i'm sure i'd find you very interesting to talk to. However, until then i'm not going to get into a war of words with you. face-icon-small-smile.gif

I don't wish to get into a war of words with you either. I just felt that you were too quick to judge me without knowing anything about me face-icon-small-wink.gif

The gaps too narrow even on a standard car. PFR7B is a platinum plug, which offer increased efficiency because the electrodes are thinner and are designed to run a larger gap. A larger gap will reduce the chance of missfire and improve starting when cold. When under boost they also ensure a strong spark with larger gap to bridge, reducing the chances of the spark being "blown out". A wider gap will also reduce fouling because of an efficient burn. The plug gap however, will have no bearing on the power produced.
