micra_wrc Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 Gayle, there's a similar debate in the General forum. Seems like the environmentalists didnt like Jeremy driving a 4x4 vehicle up a mountain in Scotland, "reportedly churning up heather and sensitive peat on the way, and causing substantial ecological damage" thread in General leave Top Gear alone, its a cracking programme Imy
sma01 Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 definitely shouldnt be banned....... think JC is superb, he just speaks his mind....
sKunk Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 "Now the BBC Two programme has come under fire from the Transport 2000 pressure group, which has called for it to be taken off the air and replaced with a show that promotes "sensible driving in sensible vehicles"." But surely that is an excellent idea? LMFAO!
2559B Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 transport 2000 ???? someone should tell these twats it's the brittish public that pay for these programmes & 3-4 million viewers every week can't be wrong !! FIGHT THE ENVIROMENTAL OPRESSORS !!!

dave_morgan Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 This must be an April Fool article surely !!! Who's honestly going to watch them pitting the latest 950cc Focus against the 800cc smart car on 'third gear' !! "....well, this car has 2 cup holders and enough storage for 26 organic lettuces, while this only has one cup holder and storage for 2 organic carrots !!.... but it will do 200 miles on half a cup of oil seed rape oil !!!" Next they'll be banning advertising of cigarettes on TV and complaining that happy hours encourage over drinking !!!! ... oh wait, they've done that already !!! Still think it must be a wind up !
david_farmer Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 If you think Transport 2000 are advocating a nanny state, have a look at this American website Film Reviews They score all popular films based on language, violence, sex etc. Nothing new there, you may think. However just read some of the reviews;- Babe - pig in the city was marked down dues to;- realistic trauma and injury inappropriate dress punk/hood manerisms, purse snatching "Take care of #1" sadness from loss of caregiver gunfire at a story character threats to achieve good favor the use of God's name in vain without the four letter expletive imagery of animal control police as brutal imagery of out of body experience, resurrection adult underwear twice hanging onto an ambulance while riding a bike If you take a moderately violent film like xXx it goes off the scale and they have to include spiritual references to help you cope with the trauma of watching it.
