ScoobyAndy Posted March 20, 2005 Posted March 20, 2005 yeah there seems to be. iam after a decent classic at a sensible price.. everything ive looked at so fars been way overpriced for what its been.
ScoobyAndy Posted March 20, 2005 Posted March 20, 2005 every where n anywhere. tho theres quite an interesting sounding one on here at the moment.
sma01 Posted March 20, 2005 Author Posted March 20, 2005 You spoke to any subaru dealers??if not, you should give Gav at Drive Subaru in Camelon a shout, the garage is closing at the end of the month so he's not been able to get any more cars in, but know he may be able to point you in the right direction.... its thanks to him I got my new car
ScoobyAndy Posted March 20, 2005 Posted March 20, 2005 cheers for that mate. i'll give them a try firts thing on monday morning.
sma01 Posted March 20, 2005 Author Posted March 20, 2005 no problem, am sure you'll find him very helpful, he owns a scooby himself so knows exactly what he's talking about.....
fraser_drinkwater Posted March 20, 2005 Posted March 20, 2005 Get to halleys and see harvey the sales manager he has a good selection old and new, im sure he'll sort something for you to think about , and if not he can source.
john_robertson Posted March 20, 2005 Posted March 20, 2005 sma01, IIRC your 300r was one of the old sales guys specials he had built basically everything in the prodrive book on it quickshift, springs,PPP, shiny things etc etc. John.
sma01 Posted March 21, 2005 Author Posted March 21, 2005 Mr NTS, pardon my ignorance, what is IIRC?? the car is a dealer special, it has the full PPP, along with Prodrive suspension, altho not sure if it has the quickshift..... Scott
john_robertson Posted March 21, 2005 Posted March 21, 2005 IIRC - If I Remember Correctly/ If I Recall Correctly Some of them got Quickshifts also, phone Gav and ask him he'll be able to tell you for sure, I was talking to him about your car before you bought it John.
sma01 Posted March 21, 2005 Author Posted March 21, 2005 got you now mate... will phone him tomorrow and check mate, he'll be sick hearing from me though.... am really pleased with the car, as I mentioned in an earlier post, its thanks to Gav I got the car, if it wasnt for his good advice I'd probably still be scoobyless..
sma01 Posted March 21, 2005 Author Posted March 21, 2005 Mr NTS: are you local?am in falkirk area....
john_robertson Posted March 21, 2005 Posted March 21, 2005 << He's in Sunny Bathgate Brian >> Correct Known Gav for years John.
sma01 Posted March 22, 2005 Author Posted March 22, 2005 Ive only known him a short while as we are in the same line of work, he's a nice bloke, and was a great help to me in getting my new scooby
sensemagic Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 sma01 - You said that Drive is closing at the end of the month? Is that true? Any ideas why? I got my STi from there. I've also had it serviced there from day one, although sometimes against my better judgements. (Nothing against the guys there, but it is not really a Subaru garage, and I think Subarus need some TLC.) I'm due for a service soon... I guess it will be Noble's? Or is there somewhere closer? (Although I work in Edinburgh, so it wouldn't be too much hassle.) magic.
wrxmania Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 Drive are closing due to, apparently, "Market trends" or something similar - in otherwords - bad reputation, certainly on the Subaru side - even tried changing the name. Nobles is the obvious choice - most people rate them as good so should be no worries, they'll drop you off at your work if you ask in advance or will even come and collect your car on the transporter and bring it back when finished. Brian
Stiks Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 Agreed re Nobles .... safe hands really, which is what you want for your pride and joy. I have a deep distrust of main dealers with bad Ford, Rover and Peugeot experiences. I wouldn't take my car anywhere else. Remember to ask for your SIDC discount. Keith
2559B Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 car is in Nobles just now... as Keith said, SIDC members get a discount !!!
sma01 Posted March 24, 2005 Author Posted March 24, 2005 sensemagic, drive is definitely shutting down, supposed to be 31st march, although with these things it will probably take a bit longer. some of the staff have already left, and the rest will follow shortly. From what I understand, the main problem in there is that Rover are not doing well at all, and are costing the garage money, so Morrisons have pulled the plug on the whole garage.... ...however, I heard on the grapevine that another local car dealer has been offered the subaru franchise, so we might still have a garage local to us
sma01 Posted March 24, 2005 Author Posted March 24, 2005 wrxmania - do you know what sort of charge Nobles have for collecting and returning cars? my car is due a service in the next couple of months and that service would be really handy....
