allan_thorne Posted February 21, 2005 Posted February 21, 2005 Where the best place to get one can only find sites in the states selling them and don't seem to ship to the uk.
allan_thorne Posted March 4, 2005 Author Posted March 4, 2005 Got one from the states really like it will post pics soon. Oh and picked the car up on the 1st really chuffed.
allan_thorne Posted March 15, 2005 Author Posted March 15, 2005 here is a link to my pictures of the armrest. if anybody is interested in getting one let me know Armrest
scott_coull Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 May be a stupid question but why do you need one? Is it for extra storage or for if you have small or long arms? Cheers Scott
allan_thorne Posted March 15, 2005 Author Posted March 15, 2005 not stupid. things is I'm used to having a armrest in my other car and it was the first thing I missed so had to get one. That's the only reason really.
scott_coull Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 Thanks for clearing that up. Just wondered. Cheers
oobster Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 Scottie.... Can you provide a pic with the armrest installed? Andy
wrxmania Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 Do you actually drive with your arm on the arm-rest? Or is it for when stopped?
allan_thorne Posted March 16, 2005 Author Posted March 16, 2005 to be honest I only really use it when once I've got in the car to lean on while I get myself comfy. Daft I know but really miss it for that will get it fitted this weekend. Noticed your IAM link are you a member or do you work for them? I'm a member also through work I have to take a defensive driving course every three years.
wrxmania Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 Yes, I am a member. Passed my Advanced Driving Test with them recently. Livingston IAM group. Brian
allan_thorne Posted March 16, 2005 Author Posted March 16, 2005 well done I passed quite a few years ago now
wrxmania Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 Do you think it is possible to apply advanced driving principles fully in an Impreza? Dubious one that - I think in general yes but Imprezas and total adherence to the System of Advanced Driving don't always sit too well together Just waiting for my car badges to get 'em on the car. Do you use the badge? Brian
allan_thorne Posted March 16, 2005 Author Posted March 16, 2005 I stick the window badge on the back of my mini. "Do you think it is possible to apply advanced driving principles fully in an Impreza? Dubious one that - I think in general yes but Imprezas and total adherence to the System of Advanced Driving don't always sit too well together" not to sure what you mean really. in my day to day driving I lean more towards defensive driving looking far ahead and all that looking for the gaps if any trouble should come my way. I think in my mini I tend to be a bit more aggressive and use the advice on how to take the corner looking at where the verge meets then opens up and how to overtake.
wrxmania Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 Following strictly the steering principles, speed limitations, etc of Roadcraft will be something many people will find difficult in a car which is quick, rewards spirited driving, often on the wrong side of the national speed limit and has a certain expected stereotypical, aggressive way of driving - which is often opposite to defensive driving systems. My main suggestion I suppose is that Advanced Driving (from Roadcraft) techniques are more important in a car like the Impreza because it needs more respect, particularly in terms of speed limits and defensive driving techniques - most people are relatively aggressive when driving them, not always to other drivers but "attack" the roads more often, rally style - I suppose However, the way you drive may may not really be that different from one car to another - it's the driver who speeds, causes accidents and drives aggressively, not the car. Any pics of the arm rest fitted? Brian
oobster Posted March 24, 2005 Posted March 24, 2005 Fiona - did you get my PM about where you sourced the armrest? I'd like to get one myself, mainly for extra storage (use the subaru for work too so got lots to carry about with me) and would also really appreciate a picture of it fitted too if possible! Cheers

oobster Posted March 24, 2005 Posted March 24, 2005 i've checked a couple, but they both state on their site that they don't ship internationally. if your aware of any sites that do, i'd appreciate it if you could let me know!
