Wee Jock Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 I had my car de restricted today and also changed all my dials for white ones. As soon as I turn on the ignition the temp gauge reads high! If I disconnect the wires for the temp gauge at the sender on the engine the gauge reverts to zero! Any Ideas?
Pele Posted January 13, 2005 Posted January 13, 2005 Not being an auto electrician, but perhaps the wires may have been reconnected wrong? I'm sure someone will see this soon and help you out a bit more - I'm feeling a bit 'blonde' today lol
The Daddy Posted January 13, 2005 Posted January 13, 2005 I had a similar problem on mine. I would be driving along and my guage would go in time with my engine revs. It turned out that the wire had been earthing out on the body. the way the guage works is by elecrical current to the sender so at a guess you have put a live feed direct to the sender. If you get stuck give me a shout and i will check it with my multi meter.
Wee Jock Posted January 13, 2005 Author Posted January 13, 2005 You sure are! You cant connect them wrong as they are on to a pcb (printed circiut board) just in case you didnt know! Thanks all the same
Wee Jock Posted January 13, 2005 Author Posted January 13, 2005 Daddy, the one below yours is for Pele! I do need a bit of help as no one seems to know what is wrong! The work was carried out at Xtreme Scoobies on a recomendation from some one on here! (Now I wonder who that was, think they were blonde! ) They couldnt fix it and they were at it for nearly two hours! Theoreticaly it sounds like the sender has gone, if you disconnect it it reverts to zero, as soon as the ignition is turned on it goes straight to high temp. Any help would be much appreciated regards wee jock
