derek_robertson Posted November 27, 2004 Author Posted November 27, 2004 It always runs late due to hicups, like no doctors or marshals to cover the stages Oh! & the first stage is normally stopped for a while due to recovery of a few, sometimes many cars Last year the rally went on well into darkness due to the number of cars going off, stages being stopped etc,all part of the fun I'm sure. Can't wait Hopefully everthing will run smoothly this year. Del

the squiggle Posted November 30, 2004 Posted November 30, 2004 I will buy the Motorsport News tomorrow to see if there is any info on stage times Best bet would be to head to Castle Douglas after meeting at the Kenbridge Hotel for the start to pick up a Speccy pack. After meeting up we could make Castle Douglas in about 15 mins down through Parton. So how about meeting up at 0730 - 0745 at the car park next to the hotel First meeting point .......................... 0630 at the Shell station, Glasgow Airport For Andy, myself and anybody else from Clyde area who would like to tag along Second meeting point ..................... 0700 - 0715 at the Happendon Services on the M74 Sth For anybody coming from Central belt/East coast Third meeting point ......................... 0730 - 0745 at the Kenbridge Hotel, St John's Town of Dalry For Del, Malky, BIG Andy and anyone else from Ayrshire Final meeting point .......................... 0800 at the Shell station in the centre of Castle Douglas for anyone from Dumfries are who may like to pop along the road Word to the wise for first timers Plenty of layers in the clothes dept and hats ,gloves and scarf Portable seat of some description, its either that or the wet grass Some grub as McDonalds are pretty thin on the ground in the forest Some bog paper, its that or the jaggy nettles POLICE MOBILE CAMARA VAN is a Fiat Ducato with Luminous Chevrons on the side and Black Perspex windows on the side and back. Easy to identify from the side but from the back it looks like a builders van. They usually dig it out when there are any Motorsport events on in the region as they regard us as easy pray Grant

spooks Posted December 1, 2004 Posted December 1, 2004 Had a look on the ole sat nav never realised the distance, 100+ miles from me If I can I will either meet ya in Castle Douglas Shell or M74 Happendon Services but I will let you know for definate Friday.......Hope there aint much distance between stages as I dont think I could get up and doon on one tank if there is Spooks
derek_robertson Posted December 1, 2004 Author Posted December 1, 2004 Hi Scott Not much distance between stages, approx 50 miles. Cheers, Del
the squiggle Posted December 1, 2004 Posted December 1, 2004 There is a Shell garage next to the service area in the centre of Castle Douglas also Happendon services is a Shell outlet, if you were to fill up at the services then you would make down and home on a tank Area between the stages is quite tight so you should be ok for fuel Del, your resume seems appropriate, rendezvous at the Kenbridge then straight to Barney Water, not familiar with speccy access at Barney Water so your the leader Looking forward to it even though we will be leaving Paisley in the middle of the night Grant
derek_robertson Posted December 1, 2004 Author Posted December 1, 2004 Ok Grant Will try & sort out route Not quite sure about Barney Water stage,I'm sure it's been called another name, so we'll just have to see how it goes Been to other stages several times, they have been spectacular in the past so here's hoping Cheers, Del

malky Posted December 4, 2004 Posted December 4, 2004 All right folks, we are looking for one last big push for prezzies for the Santa Cruz for the children of Yorkhill. Please remember that this is being run by Scottish members & next year we could be delivering toys to sick/under privileged kids in your area. We need all the Scottish members to dig deep to make it a good Christmas for the kids. PS I am high jacking all the threads as I feel quite disappointed that more members are not getting involved.
