derek_robertson Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!! My heating is playing up,3 out of 11 rads working, have bled all rads. The 3 rads that are working stay hot for a couple of hours, then go cold & then heat back up after 1,2 or 3 hours. The pump & timer are still on,the pipes coming out of 3 port motorised valve remain hot.Anyone got any ideas before I call out an engineer? Cheers, Del
evojkp Posted October 14, 2004 Posted October 14, 2004 Although I don't advocate its use, but the DIY section of Scoobynet has a lot of plumber and heating type folk frequenting them. Post up their and see if they can help. I take it you bled the radiators with the pump off?? Have you tried to re-bleed after 30mins? Is there any air present? If it is a combi, do you have sufficient pressure within the heating loop? Possibly just needs a top up. Follow instruction for the boiler. Usually a three way manual valve on the bottom on the boiler. Probably totally useless info..sorry.
dad Posted October 14, 2004 Posted October 14, 2004 yeah if its a combi then water pressure no. 1 target
derek_robertson Posted October 15, 2004 Author Posted October 15, 2004 Thanks for your replies guys,it's not a combi system.Going to try descaler as the system is most probably choked with sludge,it's quite an old system & actually needs replacing. Been looking at condensing boilers, anyone got an opinion on them? Thanks to Corsa & his heating engineer Chris for info & giving up their time. cheers Del
malky Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 Hi Del, I know two guys who work for the gas baord who might be able to sort you out, They fitted a new system for my mum/dad as a hommer alot cheaper than anyone else.
derek_robertson Posted October 16, 2004 Author Posted October 16, 2004 Cheers Malky, will keep that in mind. Managed to get old boiler up & running again, there was a blokage on return to boiler.Descale & flush of system should keep it running sweet till springtime, gonna chage system then. cheers, Del
