Smiddy Posted October 2, 2004 Posted October 2, 2004 i confirmed all mods on my old car with an insurance company at time of quote. downpipe, wheels, ppp, quickshift, 6 cd changer, piaa lights - the whole lot. was told no probs. was 2nd day into the policy and got the details. no mention of the mods. so called them up during lunchtime. "sorry sir, we cannot insure the modifications. we have to cancel the policy with immediate effect" i was like - wtf!! im at work, i have my car, and now im not insured? "yes sir, sorry sir. we will give u a full refund" i tell ya - they ALL suck

Once again sorry to hear of ur hastle . If its any help , Scratch here , suggested :NFU ,Northampton Office 01604 883726 who were very good and know their scoobs .. ( BTW thanks again Scratch ..) ken555 Posted October 4, 2004 Posted October 4, 2004 Your problem might be that some insurance companies will see it as Insurance Refused when you try to renew and won't do business with you. I'm with Hyperformance if thats worth a try.
wrxmania Posted October 4, 2004 Posted October 4, 2004 Check this one out too Stevo. Brian L&V Scoobynet thread
stephen_fergus2 Posted October 5, 2004 Author Posted October 5, 2004 Cheers Brian , Yup .. I've bored everyone there too with my story now .. . This is happening more and more . Well , the wagon is going on Friday . It was my first scoob , which I have looked after very well , loved driving it ( 25,000 miles in 1 year is proof ) .. and I will be very sad to see it go . As Arnie said " I'LL BE BACK " Cheers, Steve
stephen_fergus2 Posted October 5, 2004 Author Posted October 5, 2004 Well to keep everyone up to speed , was speaking to a Manager at LV today trying to get some sort of explanation out of them . I have been told time and time again that , point blank , they DO NOT insure modified vehicles and recon that it must be a training issue ie sales team telling u something when it's the complete opposite in reality . I have been told they will get back to me , but the decision cannot be reversed . LET ME MAKE THIS CLEAR .. THE UNDERWRITERS OF THE COMPANY DO NOT INSURE MODIFIED VEHICLES . Now it may be different someone of the phone sales team telling u otherwise but I promise u , the actual underwriters call the shots and do not insure modded vehicles ! Steve
wrxmania Posted October 22, 2004 Posted October 22, 2004 Link to L&V thread on the Nissan Primera Owners Club Stevo, Follow this link - L&V seem to have changed their policy on mods again after someone had the same issues as you. I am away off to Aberdeen to work for a few days just now but speak o you when I get back. Brian.
Subarstar Posted October 22, 2004 Posted October 22, 2004 I have recently renewed my policy with L&V who told me that they don't care about mods, unless you've fitted a bigger engine. The only mods I have are the sun-roof, the back box and a Bailey DV. After reading this thread, I spoke to L&V just to make sure I was OK and they simply said to take photos of the modifications so that in the event of any claims, I had proof that the mods existed. I even asked them to add a list of the modifications to the policy file, which I have checked with them since. Don't know what's going on with them, but they're better than Norwich Union Direct. Adrian Flux wouldn't even give me a quote!
