Dastek Performance Day / French Car Show at Alford 19th Sept; results

Good turn out of all kinds of cars with lots of fun on the sprint tack. 3 laps in total; 1 oval, I figure of 8 and finishing with 1 oval.

Scottishscoobies take fasted road going cars by a country mile; it was a ?bluewash? out there today face-icon-small-wink.gif

Track results taken with stop watch by start Marshal

1. 1.06:44; Pug 205; 16v, 1.9 ltr 800 kg race car. Dave from Alford

2. 1.07:06; Impreza Sti7. Jools (JAC)

3. 1.08:59; Impreza P1. Kev (Whoosh and watch that barrier)

4. 1.09:13; Impreza Sti8. Mark (Boyakasha)

5. 1.10:03; Impreza 22B. Steve

Kev; I picked up your third place award for you. Scoobies got a good round of applause from the crowd during the presentation for fastest road cars and for entertainment value too face-icon-small-tongue.gif That bit would be you face-icon-small-wink.gifface-icon-small-happy.gif

Thanks for picking up that award Jools, I didn't even know there was one, you weren't far away from that Pug either, very good going. face-icon-small-smile.gif

Thank f@ck I stopped short of that barrier too, thats what happens when you push it I suppose, at least it got a cheer and a round of applause. Cal has it all on vid which i'm really looking forward to seeing. face-icon-small-smile.gif

Nice meeting you all.

Aye Rob you are right buddy; next time I say we take the Westy face-icon-small-wink.gif but we had fun and that's what counts. The wee pug just does not slow down for the corners and Dave is very smooth. 800 kg = more than just seats face-icon-small-tongue.gif but hey he did good.

Don't know what it is with P1's and Alford. Woosh was as close to the barrier as Paul was some time back, just going the other direction. Must say though; some good car control in the midst of pirouetting down the track. From what I saw a lesser driver would have froze and bounced all the way down the armco.

Mike; sorry I did not get the chance to ay hello; figured it was you in the red Type R, but you guys were away before I got a chance to catch up with you. Too busy playing?face-icon-small-happy.gif

Lads,

Another cracking day in the sun !

Got great footage of everyone and THAT spin !

I will try and host the clip somehow as it's truly scary !

Also got great wheel cam footage as well - was brickin' it that the camera

would fall off but it worked a treat face-icon-small-smile.gif

Cheers

Cal ( 1min 13 secs - not too bad)

No worries Jools - VERY impressed with your STI - it just holds the corners perfect! The ATR was bad for understeer, as were a few other cars today, but yours seemed to be stuck on line. Sweet.

Jools. The 205 is a very light car to start off with 875kg or close. If you want to take him on seriously get a set of only just legal road racing tyres like Dave uses. Special Yokies for Caterhams I think he has. He is also a local.

Sorry I missed the day though. especially since I am sitting on the rig with no gear and nothing to do face-icon-small-sad.gif. I could have had our new Pug out!

Zeolite, Got you. Your right the Pug is light, excuse my ignorance; I was getting mixed up with car weights, thinking my Westy is 700 kg, but it is Tut?s Elise that comes in at the 700 kg mark. The Westy is just under the 500 kg mark, 475 kg in fact with a well prepped 1.7 ltr cross flow so it would be a better weapon of choice for the dry track perhaps. BTW; the Westy has the special yokos you mention.

I did have 17? RE070?s on the Sti today but was within ½ a second of them with the road going alloys I use which are 18? F1, GSD3?s pumped up to 40 psi. Thought the difference would have been bigger but could not get the heat into the RE070?s with only 3 laps at a time. They certainly felt much better on the track....and on the way home even with lugging 4 x 18? alloys, tools and a 3t trolley jack. All this and I was still made light work of a supped up Supra and a B4 legacy, thought they were stuck in traffic as I came across them. face-icon-small-shocked.gif Then I received a text from the B4 saying "OK Jools show us what u got!"

Well talk about lighting the blue touch paper...See ya! face-icon-small-wink.gif ....they must have stopped to pick brambles or something...cause after a few miles of good open roads I couldna see them coming no more face-icon-small-happy.gif

PS: See you on Sunday Gav, hopefully you will have made it home by then face-icon-small-tongue.gifface-icon-small-tongue.gifface-icon-small-tongue.gif

Great day out, was good to finally break virginity on the track face-icon-small-happy.gif Only problem now is that I can see the cars failings, Prodrive springs not the best for the track so need to get the whiteline kit sorted out. As for my launch control, lol could get the revs over 4.5k so never managed to get the car off the line properly, so will have to get Gav to take it off the car.

Nice meeting you Kev, car sounded fantastic.

Jools fantastic run, your car is so well setup. We watched it round the corners and the difference between yours and mine was massive. There is a lot to be said about a good suspension set-up. Is this what you are running?

Drop Links

Anti Lift

Front Strut Brace, Rear?

Anti Roll Bars front and rear.

Jools what were the awards for the day anyway? i'm based in aberdeen so I can pick up from you anytime, alternatively I will probably see you at Wallace next week face-icon-small-smile.gif

A paste & copy regarding the handling/braking set up;

"Prodrive 18" ?bright flitter? alloys with Goodyear F1 GSD3?s for wet weather use, Sti ?pink? 17? alloys with Bridgestone Potenza RE070?s for dry weather use, and 18" Nokion WR snow tyres for winter weather use, Prodrive lowering & progressive rate spring kit, Sti front & rear alloy strut braces, Whiteline anti roll bar, Whiteline solid drop links, Whiteline anti lift kit, Powerstation Geometry set up, Goodridge brake hose's front & rear, Ferodo DS-2500 pads front & rear, DBA front grooved and drilled discs."

Do not overlook the actual geometry set up; very important once you get the right bits in place.

Whoosh; They are little trophies for 2nd and 3rd overall on the track for the day.

Jools

Can you all let me know if you have any ojbections to me posting footage of your Alford action ?

Thanks Cal >>

You just wanna get me laughed at!! Lol face-icon-small-smile.gif . I've no problem. face-icon-small-smile.gif

ps, I've got some excellent piccies for you from recent KH day. face-icon-small-wink.gif

Not really Marc as they probably won?t check the geometry if they are changing like for like as long as they don?t alter the adjustments already on the car. The ARB and drop links take 30 mins to do with a jack under the rear diff. The hard work is at the other end with the anti lift/anti dive kit.

BTW; I?m in for new rear shocks/strut tops tomorrow at Fiskens.

Jools when your down there can you ask Fred if he has heard anything about my shocks.

PS Fred said that they just replace the shocks now and not the strut tops.

Marc,

Will ask Fred and Shona for sure. Yours could be there waiting to be fitted, but don?t quote me on that, as there are heaps of these things getting changed out. I know that when I was getting the car serviced last Friday they said they could change mine there and then if I waited, but that is where the strut tops come in. They are my own; as I sheared a bolt on the top of the LH side one when I fitted the rear strut brace long time ago. Had them for a year now and always meant to have them changed out some time, but now that the shocks need changing, never being a better time to have it done. Very pleased with the service you get down there, well worth the miles. I?ll be taking the neighbours car down there soon to get it serviced for him one of these days when he is at work and the fellow that owns the local pup just bought his Forrester from them a few months back after hearing all the good reports.
