Thomohawk Posted November 3, 2004 Posted November 3, 2004 Alright all, Just thought I'd post up regarding my poor resluts at Dastek last weekend.... Well, made a phonecall to Nobles on Monday morning and explained the situation. Long story short, they told me to take it in and they would check everything over. Took it in first thing this AM and one of guys plugged some kinda computer into it and then ragged the @r5e off it for 15mins (using a quarter tank in the process ). Just had a phoncall from Colin at Nobles to say that they need the car for 2 days to 're-programme' a few things - apparantly some of the work needs to be done while the car is 'cold' (??). Unfortunately he never went into too much detail, but hopefully this should sort things out! While I'm on, John (Mr NTS) you mentioned something about a problem with oil in the engine bay or something - sorry but given that it was the back of 8 on a Saturday morning I didn't catch exactly what the issue was.... any chance you could do me a refresher course so I can get them to deal with that when the car goes back in, thanks m8. Won't be putting the car in until the middle of the month but I'll let you know what happens. Cheers for noo, Thomo.
wrxmania Posted November 3, 2004 Posted November 3, 2004 I am sure it will be solved fine. It will be in good hands, Brian

Cheers for noo, Thomo. >> Thomo, soz for the delay matey, there is an unofficial recall on any car with AVCS ( basically the STi's ) there are oil control valves on top off the cylinder heads there are bolts on these that need to be checked for torque settings, so far there are no reported problems on UK cars but there has been some JDM cars with leaks and rumour has it that several went on fire. It only takes about 1/2 hr and should be checked when they have the car in. From what I hear the dealers are not actually asking you to bring your car in to be checked thay are only doing it at the next service interval, personnally I found this a bit disconcerting due to the possibility of the outcome. Hope your mapping has been sorted. John.
Thomohawk Posted November 7, 2004 Posted November 7, 2004 Cheers for that John. I'll make sure I mention that to them when I take the car in next week. Laters, Thomo.
johnnyr6 Posted November 7, 2004 Posted November 7, 2004 I can't believe that sod playsatan made 320 brake just by removing the cats.
Thomohawk Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 Alright folks!! Just a quick update to say that I got my mota back from Nobles this morning and it feels like a new car!!! Apparantly they had some boy up from down south to reprogramme the ECU, and he's played about with the boost or something (sorry, was toatlly jet lagged so wasn't really listening), anyway all feels a lot smoother and more eager.... just need another run at dastek to see if there's any difference! BTW, it was all done under waranty too. Mentioned the oily thing too John, and they said all is well! Anyone got a number for Gerry at Dastek??? Cheers for now guys. Thomo.
spooks Posted November 29, 2004 Author Posted November 29, 2004 Hey bud, good holiday I trust Dastek phone number 0845 3454045 Laters Spooks
Johnny50 Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 Thomo...see if you can use my run....as i never ran mine at the re-run, or get a refund.
Thomohawk Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 Cheers, for the number Spooks m8, wasn't sure if there was a certain number I should use or not. Holiday was sweet, was in Samui for 8 days..... making use of B's free flights!! Lesson learnt...... if at all possible AVOID Bangkok Airport... absolute chaos!! << Thomo...see if you can use my run....as i never ran mine at the re-run, or get a refund. >> Hey Johnny, how you doin m8? Quality idea with the re-run....... would anyone have a problem with that, and d'you think dastek would be OK with it?? Out for now. Thomo.
Johnny50 Posted November 30, 2004 Posted November 30, 2004 Cant see their being a problem....it's me thats taking the hit, not Dastek. No problem in my views. If Gerry wants a call to confirm i'm happy with you doing it, i'll call him matey.
Thomohawk Posted November 30, 2004 Posted November 30, 2004 << Cant see their being a problem....it's me thats taking the hit, not Dastek. No problem in my views. >> Fair point m8. Regarding you taking the hit, I'll refund you or buy you beers!! << If Gerry wants a call to confirm i'm happy with you doing it, i'll call him matey. >> Don't worry Johnny, I'll speak to him and if there's a problem then I could let you know. Cheers again. Thomo.
Johnny50 Posted November 30, 2004 Posted November 30, 2004 No need to give me anything Scott, was more meaning that it shouldn't matter to them as it's not costing them anything. So you're all happy with the beast now it's all running sweet then ?
Thomohawk Posted November 30, 2004 Posted November 30, 2004 Cool m8! Yeah, reasonably happy now, it certainly feels alot better...... reckon I'll be happier IF I get the right results at Dastek tho'!! Only thing is I've not got the BOV on anymore and can't decide whether to put it on or not.... don't want to affect the work that's just been done on the car. Cheers for now.

John.
malky Posted December 4, 2004 Posted December 4, 2004 All right folks, we are looking for one last big push for prezzies for the Santa Cruz for the children of Yorkhill. Please remember that this is being run by Scottish members & next year we could be delivering toys to sick/under privileged kids in your area. We need all the Scottish members to dig deep to make it a good Christmas for the kids. PS I am high jacking all the threads as I feel quite disappointed that more members are not getting involved.
