Wooly Back Box!

Hi all,well,I got back to the car after leaving Knockhill yesterday,went to put my gear in the boot and noticed a bit of what looked like wool sticking out the scoobys tail pipe! I pulled a bit out at first then I noticed more of it further up the inside of the backbox,I then started pulling loads of it out like a magician pulling stuff out a hat!

Now,I realise this is the packing/deadening stuff to quiten the noise a bit,but does It just make it a bit louder if I pull all the loose stuff out ? Can I then run about in it as normal?

Will it effect my MOT test if it doesn't effect emissions?

Won't effect emmission as its just the sound deadaning.

It may however get worse as it has abviously started to break down inside. It won't cause any damage but you may have to look at getting a new backbox in the future

Mine did that on the m8 in such hour and I could see it waving in the window a bit, once I got moving it ended up being 18ft long lol

Pmsl! Aye, mine would have been like that if I hadn't noticed it and pulled a load out! I'm going to stick my hand up it's chuffer and try to pull all the loose stuff out.

Ciaran,I'll probably run it for a bit and keep my eyes on the 'for sale' sections and see if I can pick up a reasonably priced 2nd hand one, cheers.

hahaha i had this with a XR3i years ago, pulled up at my m8's with about 15+ft out the back, just cut the box open pulled out the rest and welded the box back up.

I remember driving to work one Saturday morning and loosing a lot of power in car going up hill so thought it'd be good idea to keep foot down the next thing boom ! For a second I thought I'd blown car up but as it was still running I just kept driving to work gets to work looks round car to find back box had exploded along seem I had on previous day been pulling huge lengths of hairy fluffy stuff out exhaust

Now that's what I was worried about! If I can't reach all the loose stuff it might get stuck in the tailpipe,causing too much back pressure.......hmmmm!
