hi folks , does anybody know where i can get decent brake discs and pads which can be used on the road and the odd track day . i have a 1996 subaru impreza wrx sti (jap import) currently has drilled and grooved discs on the front with standard 2-pots calipers , solid discs on rear with 1-pot calipers.

cheers .

second vote for Alyn but if you can give us an idea of budget - performance friction are great but 700 quid for pads and discs!

the other thing id say is youl never get amazing braking from the 2 pot calipers, itd be worth looking at second hand sti brembo calipers as a good relatively cost efficient upgrade

A third for Alyn here.

I also recommend ditching the 2 pot fronts. As Dave says, the 4 pot brembos are good and another option worth considering is a set of 4 pot sumitomo calipers with "SUBARU" lettering on. These are also a vast improvement on the 2-pots and were used on facelift classics (99-00) and all WRX's since then.

If you want to upgrade to 4 pots i have a set of 4 pots here ( off v5 type r). They are a bit grubby just now. I was going to clean em up and sell them when i had the time. I was running camskill discs and mintex pads but i'd recommend changing to ferodo ds 2500 pads.

Are you sure its solid discs at the rear? Most sti's i've seen have vented rear discs.

Cheers, Johnny.

The PF rotors and bells are not available for the 4 pot subaru calipers and are prob a bit OTT for a road car anyway. A decent pad like PF Z rated and a decent set of discs will work well with either the subaru 4 pots or Brembo's.
