Its currently running approx 300 bhp but been looking at afp 18g and was wondering if anyone else is running one on there wrx, what kind of bhp they were getting and if they have had any problems with standard internals.

I've got an AFP 16G with supporting mods on my 01 WRX (let me know if you want a full list of the supporting modes) and mine is 335 bhp/325 Lbft. I have been running around on standard internals for about 18 months with no issues so far.

I'm running a VF35 in mine, pink injectors, sti TMIC, Prodrive downpipe, remapped and getting 309bhp with that. Would always like a bit more but the thought of causing damage to the gearbox etc made me stop at that. There's also the slight issue with being able to stop  Godspeed discs and bluestuff pads helped out there. The car runs very well and and I would say its just right for everyday use and I get reasonable economy (high 20's) on sensible drives.

I'd be thinking of a different engine / gearbox option to go any higher, so thats into new teritory. It will probably then become a weekend toy.

Hope that helps.

There's a few bug WRXs on here with 16g / V34 / V35 turbos running between 320 and 340 - MrSailor and KennyUK300 to name but a few.

Basically I think you'd be looking at getting the exhaust sorted out all way through - decat up-pipe, decat/100cell sports cat downpipe and decat from there back with either 2.5 or 3in width. Get STi i/c & pink injectors fitted. Make sure you have an uprated fuel pump & airbox filter. Think that's all the bits. Then get it mapped for 99RON and you should be looking to join those between 320 and 340. As much focusing on bhp look to get good Lbft.

Don't forget to think about the brakes and handling, at some point you will come to a bit of road that isn't straight ;) .

Unless your car has had/gets a hard life the gearbox should be okay at that power.

I had a VF35 turbo fitted with all the supporting stuff on my Blob and the difference from 280 to 336 was very very noticeable - I never regretted it one bit......but now it has gone :(

Cheers for replies  Car is currently running 16g with supporting mods but only made 300 bhp due to the fact it wont hold 1.3 bar boost, it tails of to about a bar at higher revs so i then lost interest in it. Was told that it might be the turbo causing the problem. Think its now time to get it sorted. Apart from the boost senario its been going well with this turbo for some time now.
