05WRX Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 The time has come to replace the rubber on the scoob. Not sure what make is the better but needless to say, don't want to scrimp on the quality. I just have the standard 17" alloys on my WRX. Cheers.
sti pretender Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Best tyres I've had are the Goodyears F1's both the old style and new asymetric. I have Dunlop SP01's (came with the new wheels) on the car just now hard wearing have done 14k on them and still good life left in them, the only downside is I don't think they grip as well in cold or wet conditions.
craigdmcd Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 (edited) Got to admit, agree with Robert on this, Goodyear Eagle F1's are very good. There are other good tyres out there, but the F1's are a great allrounder Edited March 9, 2011 by craigdmcd
CJE Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Yip, make that 3 for Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymetrics. I just got these fitted and they are fantastic in the wet. Not been dry enough to really test them in the dry, but I suspect they'll be good there too. I got mine fitted by Tyre Devotion from Alford (not sure where you are) and they were almost the same price as Blackcircles.com - the advantage is that TD come to you to fit them and the young guy was very careful when he did them. £564 fitted. 225/40R18 92Y. mystery machine Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Will you be using the same tyres all year round? I just had Bridgestone Potenza RE070s fitted. The almost semi-slick tread gives tremendous dry grip and the stiff sidewalls great steering feedback and accuracy. However, they're not so great when it's cold and damp at the same time (certainly when the tyres themselves are still cold). I'd certainly recommend them as a summer tyre, but certainly not as an all-seasons tyre. I'll be using something else come next winter, even though I don't take the Scoob out in slush/snow!
ciaranrb5 Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 I have used Good Years for years................... and yet to find an all round better tyre for money and performance
Wee Jock Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 I take it you have a 2Lt WRX, if so I would run the Toyo T1R. In my opinion the best all round tyre you can get and for the money you cant beat it!
