Joe G Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 Well the scoob went to a new home yesterday to a guy called paul in paisley. Think he will be joining the forum as i pointed him in this direction. Couldn't justify the money i was spending on fuel at the moment with commuting up and down to aberdeen to work. Would loved to have kept the scoob and bought a runabout for running up to work but after a long hard think, decided that it had to go as i was not going to leave it sitting on the street outside the house while i was working. And there was no lock-ups to be had anywhere ont the island. Now have a 55 plate vectra sri cdti 150. Ideal for a "family car" lol. Will do just now and with the money i will save on fuel over the course of the year, the car will probably pay for itself. And the cash i do save is going into the next scooby fund lol. Miss the spec C that TPS-scoob has now so think a hawkeye spec c type ra will be on the cards in the future!! Will still be hanging about the forum and hopefully keep in touch with all the folk i have met over the years! All the best to you all and hope the fuel prices don't drive many more to selling their pride and joy's!! Joe
subarucraig Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 all the best mate i thought things were bad when fuel went over £1 a litre but now its over £1 it its just going up and up and up and up bloddy shocking between fuel prices and the state of the roads its crap rant over all the best mate
bobbyc Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 Sorry to see another scoob go it's getting tight for everyone, I don't want to be a messenger of doom but my son had the 150 CDTi with the Fiat engine in it, kept it 8 weeks it was thirstier than the bloody scoob round town but was OK on a motorway run, should be ok for the Aberdeen run
Big Gordon Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Sorry to hear that Joe but i know what you mean. My Impreza is on Pistonheads just now and i've bought a Mondeo ST tdci as my daily runner, will save about £100 a month on fuel alone. If i get back in a scoob it'll be a classic, hopefully a nice series mcrae.
mystery machine Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Sorry you had to pack it in, Joe i was not going to leave it sitting on the street outside the house while i was working. And there was no lock-ups to be had anywhere ont the island. Do you really get much in the way of car thievery on the Isle of Bute? All the best, mate
Joe G Posted March 8, 2011 Author Posted March 8, 2011 Do you really get much in the way of car thievery on the Isle of Bute? Not so much the car thieves lol! Its more the fact that it will end up getting vandalised by some of the wee neds that i have had run-ins with in the past. It was hard to part with the scoob!! But the anti-lag was gonna get me in trouble
