Sad discovery

I think my pride and joy, bought at 3 years old, only 18500m last year is not as immaculate as I first thought, although unmodified and immaculate looking. A wee surprise I got when I took the cover off today. There are bubbles in the paint on the off side rear bumper.now I know scoob paint is not the best but it has only bubbled in the one area and on the bumper only. Underneath all looks mint but if you get in the wheel arch there are very slight fitment differences. So maybe had an unregistered damage to the rear bumper with a not so good paint job.... Just shows no matter how well you check the car when you get it, you never really know the history....

I think I'll live with it this year, it'll just annoy when polishing. It is only in the bumper which am sure is plastic so it won't rust or rot... Think it's been with the long spell of cold damp weather thats went for it as it was fine at the start of the month....

my wifes Focus started to bubble on the rear wing, turns out we think it was bumped 'in house' at the dealer nd they reapired it.. but didn't remove the wheel to get at the back edge to seal it. Hence it started to bubble from the inside.

They sorted it properly under warranty.. all fine now and its been done two years.

No one can say a car is 100% unless you've had it from new and know where it came from.

not good news Alastair, but as Craig said at least its not on the metalwork - having scratched bumpers on the side of the garage before it can be done innocently and stupidly enough that it shouldnt be cause for concern!

as Phil said, having it from new is the oonly way to be 99% certain which is why my blob will never leave me :)
