I have no beef with my fellow wretched motorist, but I might like to aim one of those contraptions at the local council, who - for the handsome swedge of tax paid to them each year - can't even replenish our empty grit bins (let alone grit or plough the street, heaven forbid!) :cussing:

Took me 3hrs 20mins to get home from work tonight (usually takes about 40mins) :icon_rendeer:

Lucky you - I was "only" 6 hours for a 25 minute journey!

And why should our esteemed local council do something for the money :icon_hang::icon_hang: It is a complete joke .Did they not know of the impending snow (poem in there )Was told by someone who know's a gritter driver, that the driver was told to go out with the beacons on to make it look like they were gritting as they are low on grit......??????

its funny you should say that Kenny, I have passed a couple of gritters recently with the beacons on and didnt get the roof of the car covered in grit like normal !

A mate of mine drives for Argyle and Bute council up in Dalmally and I know that they are deffo putting grit down!

Richie,

All the committee changes ... is the main change.

no i think you lot have more snow than us ..... but turn of the year could be different, a mild winter last year i was told, they are expecting a bad one this year.

Brian,

yes we are over in Toronto for at least 3 years, hopefully longer.

mystery Machine,

we have had little snow until today, where its been non stop for 12 hours ... still snowing.

The driving here is auful at the best of times, but the roads people here are very organised, snow ploughs, gritters, even 4x4 pick ups for around housing areas. roads are all open, not heard off any closed. schools stay open, etc.

Ontario in winter, been more times than I care to remember. If you think Scotland is cold then your in for a treat :kerstsmiley:

Last time I was over end Jan/beginning of Feb it was -43 in Winnipeg,-31 in Halifax, -27 in Montreal and -21 in downtown Toronto. Strangely though, Toronto felt the coldest with the "damp" air coming off Lake Ontario.

Mind you in Summmer it goes to the opposite extreme with temperature above 30 and swimmming in the lakes. Bonkers!!!

Would I live there? Bloody right I would :biggrinsanta:

Enjoy!
