Ah, OK - didn't realise.

its good for you, keeps your licnce safe :rotfl:

Don't bank on it - my license took a royal humping after I was clocked doing 100mph - on a quiet & dry three-lane motorway, no less...

C'est la vie...

It's easier than you would think, eh? That was about ten years ago when I was done - I reckon the stationary T5 must've been obscured behind some lorries travelling in the left lane. To be honest, I don't hold any grudge against the polis who stopped me - they're never going to let you off with three figures! However the fine and points that the local sheriff court rammed up me were excessive - I believed at the time as I still do that I was driving safely, and was perfectly aware of my speed and the road conditions, endangering no-one... Ach well, you live and learn eh?

So does removing this limiter affect your insurance then? A wee bit off-topic, I know - just curious :)

what year you got? if its an early classic its a mechanical limiter, simply fit a speedo converter between the gearbox + speedo cable + you instantly get a clock that reads in mph + a limiter now set at 180mph...

Once this is done you need to change your speedo dial as well!

no you dont, it now allows your oe clock to read in mph using the kph numbers, all you need to do is put a mph sticker over the kph if you want, both the speedo + miles will read in mph.

another tip is to record the kilometers before you convert as the clocks will now read in miles that way you can always work out the total miles covered when you come to sell the car.

Good advice mine read 82,700 when I was imported, it's now around 90,000 so I'm actually only at 59,000 miles.

My speedo converter fits to the the back of the speedo, dead easy to fit and the sticker came with the converter.

Excessive,

a few years ago I got a few bans first one was in my SRi, 94mph, clear dry 0330 hrs, road completely empty...except for plod.

Pulled me over had a 'word' regarding my speed, which to be honest didn't seem to be bothering them to much, the one who was reading my doc's say's you've got alloy wheels marked on your policy, yet steel wheels on the car, (I'd hit a kerb couple days before and had taken the rim off one the alloys and put steel wheels on in place of) said that if i'd not had alloys on policy wording and had them on car it would invalidate ins...and promptly done me with no insurance, shock horror judge agreed, and banned for 24 months, which after a few more bans resulted in my lic being gone for years!

Either a pair of clued up cops or lucky. Either way they were 110% wanting to hump me before that and would eventually have got me, grief brought on in a lot of ways by myself but bit unfairlky at times by them, but s**** happens and can't expect to be an ar5e wi them one day yet them be cool when they have a legit excuse to pull me.

the car is 94/95 auto wrx. i've tried to have this fitted http://www.platinumimports.co.uk/epages/61994753.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/61994753/Products/1 and it doesnt fit

That looks like one for the gearbox end. As yours is an auto you may need the one that fits behind the clocks. Dunno for sure. it would be good if you could borrow one to try it before you buy one.

You can borrow mine and see if it fits. I'll bring it to the next Glasgow meet.

Cheers pretender. Can you send me a link to the contraption your talking about to so I know what it looks like for future ref :)
