noticed a bit of rust on the passenger side door, its under the door handle surround. smaller than a 5p the now, going to take it to ian grieves tommorow presume it will be covered. as the surround slots into the actual door i think water may have got in behind it. just thought a would post this up so everyone would be aware of it that it may be an issue on the hawks..

I assume you've had the 1 and 3 year body warranty services done?

OK - I'd check your service book. To maintain the body warranty it needs to have a 1 year body service then a 3 year body service carried out, at extra cost. It is not part of the standard service.

In case they use that as a "get out".

It honestly couldn't be easier to find. Head along the M876 towards the Kincardine bridges - about a mile before the bridges, just as the motorway becomes dual carriageway, exit the M876. At the roundabout at the end of the slip, take a left - Burgoynes is about 1/4 mile down that road on the right. If you reach the bright lights of Airth (which itself is about the size of a tea biscuit) then you've gone too far ;)

looks to be getting sorted under warranty now. the warranty dept knocked it back at first sayin it was a stone chip!! :brickwall: however it was reckoned that this was down to the photo quality, so charlie at grieves took some better ones and sent them off.

subaru said they wanted there paint specalist to have a look, so he did on monday and agreed that it was not a chip but a paint issue. so its goin in for a respray n fix in about a week. glad to get it sorted under warranty.

so again hawkeye owners keep an eye on the paint round the handle surround in case this aint a one off issue B)

My Hawkeye started showing corrosion on the roof in under 3 years, it's a Euro import without the bodywork service so Subaru UK won't fix it.

It's also had an engine part replaced (under warranty), also the front diff broke months 3 years and 2 months after it's reg date so I had to pay for that, it started to whine 2 weeks after it's 3 year service.

I had rust issues on the roof of my 2004 WRX SL back in 2006, so duly told Halley's about it at the next service (it was 2years 9 months old at the time) only to be told it was stone chips. Argued with the area rep about it but got nowhere, so I've vowed never to buy another brand new Subaru again, and if I get one, it will be a JDM, as the lack of aftersales care is appaling. BTW, the "stonechips" were behind the sunroof - what a joke!!!!
